I-134 Self Employed Question

Hello Everyone,

I'm about to fill out my I-134 for my Fiancée, who is in Taiwan. I'm self employed and about to start doing my taxes (for tax year 2014), but will need to send off my I-134 to my Fiancée before I finish them. My question is will it be ok if I use my last completed tax return (for tax year 2013) along with all of the bank deposit within the last year and current account balance for proof of income? Or will I really need my 2014 tax return?

When I give them my last tax return, how much of it do they want? Just the 1040? Should I include my schedule C or should I print the entire thing?

Thanks for everyone's help in advance. All of the people here helping others out is really incredible!

If you are using tax returns, you need a copy of everything. Tax transcripts are easier.

I got the transcript! Thanks for the tip... definitely easier than printing out all of my taxes. I assume then it must be ok to use the 2013 tax year, since that is the latest one available?

Other than the tax transcript, the only other thing I need with the application is the last year of deposits and amount in savings from my bank account?

Tax transcripts? Curious about that. How do you obtain tax transcripts?

Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

I just went to the Irs website http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

I wasn't able to download the transcript at first... but figured out that I had to disable the pop up blocker of my internet browser and then I got it.

Thanks for the answer! Never realized you could do a transcript of your return and it would be accepted. That is great! Will definitely use this for my I-134.

Well I took a look and can't see from the instructions that the Transcript is ok. In the I-134 instructions it says to provide a copy of your taxes (while the VisaJourney K-1 guide does mentions IRS Transcripts).

Feli114 was the one who suggested it. Perhaps he or someone else can confirm that they've used a IRS return transcript successfully in an I-134 application?

Thanks again everyone!

You could submit 2013, though 2014 tax would have been better.

If there is a way for you to quickly wrap up 2014 and get that to her,

and later you can amend 2014 if you still need to work on it some more.

I only sent tax transcripts for my personal and there were no questions. I sent 3 years since I own the company.

Yes, transcripts are accepted. You can use either a complete copy of your tax return with all forms, schedules, attachments, W-2s and/or 1099s OR an IR tax return transcript.

It's a really brutal next two weeks, work wise... It will be really difficult to finish even by the 15th! Would an electronic signature (using Turbo Tax) be ok to print out on her end, or will I need to sign it and expedite shipping?

Another issue is that my income level was lower in 2014. My estimated income for 2015 is just above the I-864 guidelines, but my 2014 might be just below it (really don't know yet), while my 2013 and 2012 were way above it.

If my estimated income for 2015 is 20K with a lower income level in 2014, should I be looking at getting a co-sponsor at that point?

Thanks everyone for the help!!!

Another user suggested that using my 2014 taxes (not finished yet) would be better than using my 2013 taxes. If I use my 2014 taxes, I won't be able to use a transcript because it wont be available on the Irs website for 3-4 weeks until after turning it in.

Could I e-mail a PDF of my entire tax return with photocopied 1099s and photocopied signature for her to print out?

Thanks for the help!
