NVC and case number

i just got off the phone with NVC and they stated after i told them its been roughly 10 calender days that my i130 was approved. the gentlemen on the phone stated its taking about 35 days for a case number and i said i wanted to call and make sure the case number hasnt been made yet.he once again stated they are looking at the 35 day window for case numbers...should i continue to call once a week or so and check on the status or go buy what i was told and wait 35 days?what can i do in the mean time?i was going to fill out the i864 form but the one i found online says it expires on march 31, 2015...still good to use after expiration date or just wait till april 1st?while im waiting im also researching on what my wife will need and saving the money.shes in the philippines and im in the states if that will help.

it can go either way! if seen the forum say call once a week and be proactive, i personally just called about 2 weeks after approval and again within that 35 day period and NVC already had the number assined to my case.

so you can do both call frequently or call at that 30 day period more or less

thank you..i too read some calling a couple times a day or couple times a week at least 10 days after i130 approval.mine was approved march 17, thus today is 10 calender days.though i didnt expect to have a case number..i like to stay positive and give it a try..most likely ill call on the second week and if no luck.again on the third and so on.again thank you

Dont listen to them! Lol...they told me the standard "35 days" as well....but I had mine in 6 days (I happened to call on the day our case number was assigned. I was able to complete the DS261 that same day and was invoiced for the AOS fee the next day. I called every monday and thursday

Pay no attention to that date, it is the expiration of the comment period to the Office of Management and Budget. The form itself does not expire and can be used.

i would start filling out the I864 form because regardless if they change the format after March 31st or not, they're most likely going to be asking for the same information. i would also be getting all the documents needed for the AOS/Financial Docs/Civil Docs ready. She'll need the originals for her interview as well.

from the timelines i've seen here, people are usually able to get their case/invoice # about a month after their approval (if they call NVC and get it over the phone). Once I submitted my DS-261 and paid my AOS fee,, I called NVC again and was told to go ahead and submit my I-864EZ/Financial Docs/Civil Docs. From there I waited about a week, called again and was able to get my DS-261 reviewed over the phone and I was able to pay my IV Fee.

Its best to be proactive with NVC as sometimes things get done faster than their estimated '35 days', '60 days', what have you.

We got ours in the post within two weeks of NVC receiving it so those 35 days are just the standard they tell everyone. I know others who also got their case numbers and IIN after about two weeks. We personally chose to give NVC two weeks before we were gonna call because perhaps if they weren't so busy with all the calls, they could put focus on reviewing cases faster. But that was our point of view.

...the customer service line has nothing to do with reviewing cases. The people answering the phones aren't waiting for us to stop calling so they can get back to reviewing cases...

No but I'm sure they have a lot more to do than answer phone calls. And calling several times a day till someone gets a case number means they take up time for people who really need to get through to NVC about serious questions about their case, RFE etc.

We're all eager to finish this already loooong process but bombarding NVC with calls the second the case goes to NVC isn't really helping the process or fellow "visa travellers". Just my opinion.
