i am the petitioner,

I STILL DIDNT RECEIVE any NVC letter about case trasfering to embassy but we already pass the interview and everything .... WHAT CAN I DO about that???? because in the AOS they are asking for that letter...?????

what to do ????

I am sure its ok if you dont have it (we just included ours bec we have it anyway). Whats required is the copy of NOA2/approval of the i129f (I-797 notice of action).

Good morning! I am very happy to report that Tim's visa was approved this morning. Poor guy was so worried he could not sleep and ended up being the first person in line at the embassy this morning. He is traveling home on the train right now so I will get more details from him for a review. The CO told him that he should have his visa in about a week because they were processing them rather quickly right now at the London embassy. YEAH!!!! I guess I am going to be working on understanding all of the AOS paperwork for the next few weekends.

Thanks for all the help with this process. This site has saved us thousands of dollars and has provided new friends we will have for a lifetime.

You don't need the letter indicating that your case has gone to your Embassy. You will need your NOA2 (I797) which is required. I think that is what you are asking for. If that is indeed what you need and don't have then call NVC to have another sent to you.

1-603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888. Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

You can also e-mail NVC but that will take longer and may or may not get answered. Here is the correct format to use when e-mailing the NVC.

Hello Everyone!

Here is my update.

We went to SS Office 3 days after his arrival but he was told to come back 10 business days after arrival to USA. We did go back and he was asked for SS5, Passport, I-94 and Birth Certificate. He didn't have the birth certificate but officer said it is ok and was just adviced to wait for the card within 10 business days. He got his SS card in less than 10 days.

After 29 days form his arrival, we got married! Still waiting for a copy of our marriage certificate which should be coming anytime soon.

After 33 days from his arrival, we went to DMV California to apply for Driver License/ID but he was not allowed to have one since his 1-94 is less than 60 days. It is ok. We just pressed out luck. :-) Anyway, I read from the DMV handbook that if he is a licensed driver in a foreign country, he is allowed to drive in California as long as the DL is valid. I was able to add him in my auto insurance policy too.

We are now both preparing AOS. Everything seems to be ok except about I-693 form

AllanGrace post said that it is not necessary to submit I-693 but the vaccination report from SLEC is good enough to be attached to I-485 as long as it is valid within one year. (pls correct me if I quote it wrong)

thespoons post said that he submitted a SEALED FORM i693. ( from a civil surgeon)

???????.... my question is, do we still have to go to a civil surgeon? vaccination report is still valid ( less than one year)

Thanks again for all your help. :-)

Hello. Allangrace is right. K1 applicants arent required to submit the i693 as long as their aos submission is within 1 year after their k1 visa medical exam. We just included the i693 for my peace of mind hehe. Note though that starting october the flu shot is required (flu season) so you might need to submit the aos packet before then. If not, the adjucator might give an rfe if your vaccine record doesnt have the flu shot in it (this is how i interpreted the guides/instructions and please let me know if i am wrong). Goodluck!

If you have a current DS-3025 visa exam vaccination sheet and it is less than a year old then you will submit it along with a printed copy of page 4 of the I-485 instructions, highlighting section 7c that states the vaccination record is all that is required for the K-1 and staple it to your copy of the DS-3025. There has been contact with USCIS regarding that some adjudicators requesting the I-693 where it is not needed. So unless you had a class A medical condition, no I-693 is required.

More information and procedures are located here.

Now the flu shot question - only if the exam was during flu season (Oct 1-Mar 31) Doesn't matter that it's flu season now if the exam was before Oct 1.

If you had the exam during flu season (Oct 1-Mar 31) then you need a the flu shot and an I-693 completed. Some have submitted during flu season without the I-693 with the flu shot annotated and passed others were RFE'd. Also, it doesn't matter that it's flu season now if the exam was before Oct 1 you don't need the I-693 if that is the case.
