Port of Entry : Los Angeles
POE Date : 2015-09-28
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : Tim said the process was very simple and was surprised as this was his first time thru this POE. He was sent to secondary to where he waited about 30 minutes. He said that there was a plane from China that got there before them and a lot of folks needed assistance. Once it was his turn they reviewed his documents, asked when he was getting married and was sent on his way.

Embassy Review : Writing this for my fiance. Tim stayed at the Imperial College. They have rooms available during the summer term while the kids are out of school. The room was a little over £40 (breakfast included). He said the walls were thin and you could hear people talking but the reality was he was not going to get a great night sleep anyway.

He arrived at the embassy at 6:45 am and was first in line for his 8:00 am appointment time. They brought a tent out with a couple of desks and formed 2 lines. One for the Americans and one for all other visas. By about 7:30 there was about 40 people in line. At that desk they asked for his interview letter and passport and give him a plastic bag for his personal items. After going thru security he went to another desk where they checked his interview letter again and gave him a number and directed him to a large room with chairs and monitors to watch for your number.

First time he was called up a man at the window asked for his passport, photo, interview letter, visa fee paid receipt, birth cert, police certs (UK and Ireland), divorce papers (did not want the marriage papers for those divorces), I-134 and asked if he had a letter from my employer. Tim said yes and gave it to him. He did not want any of the other proof of income. He asked for a phone number to text for the delivery of the visa and Tim had to explain that he only had an Ireland cell number. Then explained that he was picking up his visa at the depot and having delivery so have them send the information to his email. He give Tim his x-ray cd and told him to wait for his number to be called again.

Next time he was called up was a lady. She asked how we met (he said on the internet but please don't ask me what site as we have racked our brain but we cannot remember. We were chatting about sports and I don't type well so I asked her to skype. Tim said she smile and said that was fine), when did we meet in person (many times in the US and UK), had he met my family (yes, my parents live in Portland and he went home with me for Christmas 2 years ago and met everyone else), did I have any siblings (yes a sister who lives in Dallas), asked if his son was traveling with him (no, not at this time), she asked him about his overstay (he explained it was 6 hours and it was his fault for not calculating the days right and that he already had gotten a B2 visa to be able to travel, she rolled her eyes and that is crazy of a 6 hour overstay and checked his passport) and then when did he plan to leave (as soon as possible). The CO said that was fine because they were processing pretty quick these days and he should have his visa in a week and that he was approved. She gave back his originals, kept his passport and he was free to go.

He was all done in less than 45 minutes. He said he would not tell anyone not to worry because that is just crazy you are going to worry but it really was not bad at all. He said he had a good chat with a few folks in line. A pilot for Virgin Airlines and then another person getting a K1. He left happy to know that we did this process on our own with the great help from the folks on this site while the other K1 couple has paid $5500 to an attorney for the K1 and AOS process.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
