Is there a new tread for the ones of us doing the AOS ?

It might be a silly question but when is it that we are allowed to work? When I went to the social secutity to apply for a ssn the lady seemed to say that the fact that I wasn't working would make it harder to obtain a SSN :o

I think the general consensus on VJ is to wait at least 10 days(business days I believe) before calling NVC and also to ignore the 35 day wait time that is stated in the recorded message when calling.

The NVC number to call is: 603-334-0700 you will need: SRC receipt number from USCIS Name and Date of Birth of Beneficiary Name and Date of Birth of Petitioner There open until Midnight.

I don't know but someone should make a thread if there's not.

You can work when you receive your EAD, and you can get obtain a social security card without a job or the EAD.

The card will just state valid for work only with DHS authorization.

Hello all,

Not sure if anyone remembers me or still reads this thread, I was filer back in August of 2014, and have been quiet since a visa refusal in April-May of 2015.

After a long wait I am back to report, that after finding and hiring an attorney, then preparing the necessary documentation, we filed an I-601 Waiver for grounds of inadmissibility on 9/21/2015, and I am happy to announce that today 6/22/2016 that the waiver has been approved.

I-129F NOA2 : 2015-02-20
