it took 43 days for me to receive case number from nvc

Are you talking about calling after 43 days and get the case number on the phone or getting the letter after 43 days? I called and got our case number after 2 weeks but it took 6-7 weeks to get the letter with the case number.

Not true. I have read again and again that 2 weeks is pretty standard, which also was the case for me.

I am kinda inclined to think that Phillipines is the exception and not the norm, so any comments dealing with timelines and processing in regards to Phillipines has to be taken with that in mind

So I haven't received my case number yet either, but every single person I've had correspondence with that's K-1 has taken about 2 weeks and our docs aren't there for long at all (5-7 days to start moving towards the Embassy). I have a friend who's a K-3 that's been sitting at every stage much longer and is still/still waiting for an interview with the Embassy even though they received their NOA2 back in December 2013! So the processes and timelines vary significantly. Please make sure that whomever you're reading advice from is coming from the same type of visa as you're applying for.

42 days is the new 7 days. I can confirm that it does take 42 days. the new message is don't call us before 35 days are over. my case took exactly 40 days to get an email

42 days does not include the 15 days it take to "RECEIVE" the file from Vermont to New Hampshire which is maybe few hours away

the real time is more like 60 days to get a case number after NOA2

the true processing time

1. I-130 180 days ( 150 may be possible depending on your luck)

2. NVC - 150 days (60 days to get case number, 7 days to process, 60 days again to process, 15 days for you to send/receive documents 8 days other delays by NVC)

3, Consulate 60 days My estimate may vary on your country assuming no AP. AP refers to admin processing

likely best case result 365 days from start of process.

I wonder if anyone cares

Given that they have about 4 feet of snow and it's still falling, and has been since prior to Christmas, that short drive may as well be to Mississippi right now.

yes calling. I still have not got a letter from NVC. I am doing the IR-1/Cr-1. you are doing the K-1 which may be why your case number was faster.

I think the K-1 get case number sooner from what I have seen on people timelines. I believe the reason is that the case is sent to the embassy from the nvc for processing while the IR-1/CR-1 is process at the NVC. I could be wrong on that but that is what I notice

Philippines cases are only process faster at the USCIS.If you look at timelines you will notice it is taking the same amount of time for people from Philippines to receive case number from NVC as other countries for same type of visa.

the k-1 visa usually get a case number faster then IR-1/CR-1 visa

K1 visas are processed more quickly at NVC than IR/CR visas. Happy it took you only 2 weeks to get your case #. Imagine how frustrating it is to have to wait more than 5 weeks after the NVC receives the file.

Still waiting...

Okay, i know this must be a exception and not the norm or it could be NVC is picking up the pace. I called the NVC today because i was bored as F*&k at work and they indeed had my case number...blew that whole 42 day thing out of the water.

Wont reveal my whole case number but will say it is ***2015543***

Which going by the WIKI means my case number was assigned on the 43rd day of the year February 12, 2015 :dancing::dancing:

you are doing a k-3 visa which is a little different, you sent in two petitions the I-129f and the I-130. looking at your timeline it shows that the I-129f petition was approved and sent to the NVC . I did not notice nothing on your timeline for the I-130 petition. The amount of time it took you to get case number for the I-129f petition is about right, It is the I-130 petitions that are taking 42 days or longer Once the NVC receives your I-130 petition then the I-129f petition will be close.

What if the I129f gets to the Embassy before the I130 is even processed at the NVC?

Was told today by the NVC to follow the instructions of the I129f, it will be intially cheaper but will be hit with a big AOS fee upon arrival in USA
