NVC is my new frustration - case is not in their system yet so no number. I got the 5 week comment from them and my congressman's office just called and said the same thing. My worry is that it seems the numbers come out quite quickly or you get stuck in NVC no man's land like many of the CSC cases... hopefully it is only a worry and when I call on Friday I'll get a number.

NOA2 1/15 and shipped 1/23.

End of my venting...

Yep. I took a shot in the dark and sat on hold for 45 minutes (after 16 calls with hang ups due to high call volume) to get a snotty lady who couldn't even nicely say "I'm sorry I don't see your case has been received yet.". Instead she interrogated me about the notice date on my letter then told me to wait 35 days. To which I replied "I personally know people are getting them faster than that, many within a week." All without directly answering my question.

So frustrating. I understand everyone wants something RIGHT NOW, but really.. why is it difficult to just be NICE about it? <_< Then, she says "have a good night" and hangs up as I am mid-sentence. Really NVC? Are you and I going to have a love-hate like I did with TSC? I almost wanted to shout at her that I have waited damn long enough already, but I kept it together. I'll try again next Friday.

Thanks all for your help!! So given that she has only started working since August (she is a teacher so could only start her job then following graduation) - Is she definitely required to provide her IRS tax return?

So just doing the I-134 Affidavit of Support. What supporting evidence is needed for this? We have:

- Bank statement for the last 2 months showing deposits from salary

- printed pay cheques cross reference with the above deposits

- Letter from employer confirming employment and salary

Is this enough? I have read in a number of forums needing to get a tax return statement from the IRS?

Thanks

Check this thread out http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/534882-complicated-i-134-affidavit-questions-poverty-guidelines-w2s-co-sponsors-more/#entry7461387 one of your countryman Nich-Nick gave a very detailed response that speaks to the process I-134 needed for K1 and then I-864 needed for AOS. Megan & Luke is right in pointing each of us to their own consulate because we know there are consulate specific processes. For instance, I learned from the Ireland's portal that the medical and background checks can be completed well in advance of the case number being assigned. That is completely different then the UK.

I think you just got the cranky one - from what I've read on here and my own personal experience (I've talked to about 5 individuals) they are at least cordial. The pat answer is annoying but at least they say it nicely. One you in particular said that it's taking about 42 days but there are those that move through quicker so I should check back once a week - of course I call every 1-2 days. Yes, that twisted logic that somehow I can move things along by sheer will  I think they are just trying to keep the volume of calls down so they say 35 or42 days depending on who you talk to... they should be well aware that thousands of us are part of the VJ community and know otherwise! :protest:

I found out yesterday that the file was received buy NVC on Tuesday - I think you were just a few days behind me.

Yeah, a lot of the documentation asked for is really dependent on the situation and the consulate you have your interview with. I believe Jay&M are from the UK, London is much easier than many of the embassies out there. It's best for every person to read up on their embassy and the expectations in those forums, many people write reviews of their experiences. It can't hurt to be prepared! Go with whatever you think will help your case :)

That's what we are doing. Ghana is very picky about everything. To many people get put in AP for not enough evidence or wrong paperwork filled out, or missing documents. I don't want that for us. I would rather have to much than not enough. (haha).

Your right all consulates are different and requirements are different. I hope you get your interview date soon!!

I was able to get our case number today and was told that it takes 1-2 weeks for the file to ship (via regular mail) to embassy. That's 21 days from NOA2 and 13 days from USCIS shipping case to NVC - even counting weekends and snow days. I'm thinking the 35 day number we keep hearing is from the time NVC receives the file until they send it to the consulate.

Thanks for the update! I figured I would try calling again next week or next Friday. I know my impatience will get the better of me and I will be calling daily next week ;)
