Passport like pictures for I-129 petition

Hey all,

For the passport type pictures that go with the G-325A Forms do they have to be professional passport photos or can they just be photos you've taken with the proper background and size. Would it be safer to just pay to get more passport photos professionally done at like Walgreens or something? Please help! xx

If I were you, I would prefer it has done in the studio. I had mine done in the studio and it was not expensive.

If you are good enough to make sure the photos adhere to the requirements then go ahead an provide your own. However, if you can't, or would feel more comfortable from a different source, then go that route.

I would have them done at Walgreens. That way you are sure they are done to the right standard. Don't want to make mistake on this

Thank you for the help everyone! I think we will just get them done professionally. That way there are no mistakes. We're spending a lot of money on visa stuff anyway might as well pay the extra fee lol

Do your own. Seriously. This link http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/photos/photos.html is the Dept of State where they tell requirements but ALSO provide a free tool that sizes and crops for you. Then you print at home or go to a photo kiosk and do a print out if you don't have photo paper. We did our own for petition, medical, London, AOS, citizenship, and both of our new US passports.

A tip if you give the tool a try:

Take the photo on a white background. Don't try to make it a close-up or it will be too big to size with the tool. Take a head and torso shot and the tool will do the work to get your head in the right place and proportion and cut out the rest.

Might as well try it out. You will end up needing well over a dozen before you finish with immigration.

AOS/EAD/AP 6

Etc, etc.

Bonus-- you can keep taking pics until you find one you like. Priceless when it's going to be on your passport for 10 years

Just an FYI, if you already have AAA, they do passport photos for plus members for free.
