Hello guys just want to ask u that I got approved for fafsa unsubsidized loan. For graduate program at interest of around 6%. The interest will start once I start semester or it will start after I complete my masters. Can some body share his/her experience how it works. Thanks in advance.

You have to pay it once you finish with your degree or when you transfer to another university

The payments will start after you finsh or stop going but i believe the interest will be applied even when you are in school

Thanks a lot guys 4 ur help. I really appreciate it. So that means if i take a sum of 3K for first semester which includes 2 courses my interest of 6% will start from day 1 I took loan. Right?

Unsubsidized Stafford Loan:

Interest is not paid by the government while you're in school, so you will be charged interest from the time the loan is dispersed to the time it's paid in full (This is not the best deal if you compare student loans that don't have to be paid until after you graduate.

Some of the loans you have to be qualify for to obtain. and some like that the one you are using is easier for some one to qualify for. You should talk to the financial advisor at the school you plan on attending as they could probably help you more

Yes you will get deductions when you file taxes when you are going to school, there are a couple of options on tax forms for deductions for students .After you are finish with school and starts payments that can also be use on taxes

Also most schools have grants that do not have to be paid back that you may qualify for that why it is best to talk to the financial advisor at the school you plan on going to.

"Subsidized loan" doesn't accrue interest charges until you stop (via graduation or by dropping out),

going to the school. Often they give you 6 months grace period to start the payment.

"Unsubsidized loan" accrues interest the moment the loan is dispersed to your school.

You have the option to make monthly payments on either of loans above,

but you can also defer them until you graduate or stop going to school.

6% is not bad...and often your credit score can make this rate higher or lower.

most students get a combination of subsidize and unsubsidized loans and grants and scholarships to help with school. The best thing for you is to talk to the financial advisor at the school you plan on attending

Thanks a lot guys. I don't have words to xpress my gratitude 2wards u. I thought this is the only loan available. i was granted 20,500 loan amount. Since i am working and earning around 23K/Year and my wife who is totally dependent on me. It will become hard for me to start paying interest of 6% i can't leave my job either. So, can u guide me what else better option available 4 me apart for this 6% un-subsidized loan. I will call financial adviser 2. I really appreciate form the core of my heart.

also you do not have to accept the whole loan amount being offer you can just accept the amount you need per semester
