Still can not decide what visa to chose Fiance or Husband.

Hello, VJ Members! I am new here and I hope you will be able to help me.

I met my boyfriend in person in October, 2014. We are together since March, 2014. I wanted to send the invitation as fiancé but our friends said that it is impossible to get approval in Cairo. For us the red flag might be the age difference 16 years and my official divorce paperwork will be done by the end of January. So, I was planning to go back to Egypt on May and marry over there. On this website I found out that if i will do invitation as a husband it might take around year to be together.So, I do not know what to do now. Should I send the invitation as a fiancé, or marry and do the invitation for husband.

Sorry, if my previous post was not clear. What I really wanted, to get some advices from the people who went thru the fiance visa process in Egypt. I understand that each case is different. How big is the chance to be denied on the interview? I worry if we will wait for 6 months and he will get denied. After I will need to go in Egypt, marry and wait for another year or more.

I went through the K1 process. Our red flags included 11+ years age difference, different religions, his previous marriage to someone from a western country. To overcome the flags, I made several visits to Egypt, and we traveled outside of the country together. By the time our visa was approved I had visited 4 times, and we compiled a lot of evidence. His interview at the Embassy in Egypt was long and hard. We were put in Administrative Processing from mid December 2013 until February 2014 but were approved (we began our process in August 2012). Our strength was that we had lots of evidence to prove we were "real" (plane tickets for both of us from Egypt to Europe; plane tickets for me from the US to Egypt, stamps in both our passports, receipts for both of us in all visited countries, Facebook, yahoo messenger, and viber messages...). Our weakness was that the evidence made it look like we had already married.

While that is what we did, there are many people on this site (and coming from a MENA country) who met once and married--with a huge age difference and multiple red flags. And they, too, were approved. Really, what it comes down to is evidence. Do you have enough evidence to show that your relationship is authentic? If your evidence is strong then the probability that you will be approved with a K1 is much higher. Just remember that if you do choose to go with the K1 route that you are free to marry. In other words, I would not petition for your fiance until after your divorce is finalized in January.

As for which route to choose, that would definitely be up to you. I see someone posted a link to the comparisons between the marriage and fiance visa, and I'd look through those to see which route fits your situation better.
