If you are positive about the dates ... it can be good. Don't forget to check the airlines websites.

fwiw: I'm a Delta platinum member (75k+ per year). Tried priceline once and needed to change the ticket. That experience was not pleasant.

I once got a great deal for a London - Detroit flight that had only one change (Newark). It was about $200 less than the price I found anywhere else and it was on Virgin (my favorite airline) With priceline, you can have up to 2 layovers, you will probably be very lucky to get something direct. If you want minimal hassle it is not for you, though you can get lucky.

My trick to getting the price was to start insanely low and then bid up in small increments when the airlines rejected the initial offer.

As stated with significant restrictions; you can specify your start and destination and the day of travel (maybe also ballpark-figure of time), but not route. Once your price is accepted, you get charged--and you can print your electronic ticket.

(obviously, I can never use this for flights to Calgary).

And, on the hotel, cent-percent were kitchenette (or, in the case of the one I booked for my wedding night, FULL KITCHEN) suites!

I'm a HUGE fan of priceline for hotels... but for flights it seems like too much of a hassle.

For hotels I've had amazing 3 stars for $45 and 4 stars for 80 to 110 dollars depending on the night.

I just bid really low and gradually work my way up - I also like hotwire.
