I am currently in America on a B2 tourist visa and looking to stay here. I am looking to get a H-1B visa for modelling and would like to know how i would go about getting this visa. Can i get a valid job offer from a modelling agency in America and then apply for the H-1B visa or do i need a agency in my home country to represent me? would i also need to go back to South Africa to get the H-1B of can it be done while i am in America?

You don't apply for a H1B a company that wants you hires you and they submit and support you. Modeling hmmm don't know but if you can find a company that will support you go for it.

Thanks dwheels76. so the company that hires me will need to submit a request for me to work there? Do they need to pay for the request? It says that modelling falls under the H-1B Persons in Specialty Occupation.

Came across a similar thread years ago.

Best bet would be to contact your Agency, they will have US contacts that may help.
