Disheartened to be in the dwindling set of people without interview dates, but encouraged by the only other Portland office person in adjacent months getting their interview notice recently.

I had the interview in Boston, MA on 04/08 and was approved. I received the Naturalization Interview Results form with Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval checked. But my online status has not yet been changed (i.e., still interview has been scheduled) and I have not received the oath letter. Is that normal? Should I call USCIS or wait for the oath letter?

Hello everyone.

I had my interview AND oath ceremony today. Tonight I'm a happy, newly minted U.S. citizen!

I arrived 30 minutes earlier for the interview. I presented my appointment notice and I was told to wait. My name was called 2 hours after the scheduled time.

The officer was a nice gentleman and he apologized for the long wait, which was apparently due to some system issues. He swore me in and then proceeded with the proper interview.

He asked me about my work. He then proceeded with the civics test. The questions were:

How old do citizens have to be to vote for president?

What is the rule of law?

What ocean is on the west coast?

What is freedom of religion?

What do we show loyalty to when we say the Pledge of Allegiance?

Who makes federal laws?

Then he asked me to read: How many U.S. Senators are there

Then asked me to write: There are one hundred senators.

He then asked me for my green card and passports. He asked me about my travels over the last 5 years and asked if I stayed out of the country longer than two months (which I hadn't). He seemed satisfied and then went over my application. He asked me a few questions from the application itself, asked me if I had filed my taxes, then asked me about any arrests, convictions, traffic tickets in my past (all answered No), then asked if I registered for Selective Service (answered No, I was over the age limit). Then went over the yes/no questions one by one.

He asked me to sign the forms, shook my hand and congratulated me. He asked me to go back to the waiting area and wait for my name to be called. Total interview time: 25 minutes.

I was called to one of the service windows about 30 minutes after the interview ended. I was pleased when the rep showed me my naturalization certificate and asked me to review that dates were correct and names were spelled correctly. He then took it back and asked to give up my green card.

The Oath ceremony took place at 3:00 pm. 38 people from 24 different countries reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and becoming U.S. citizens. It was a very emotional end to my immigration journey.

Hi all! I received my N-445 last Saturday. My Oath ceremony will be on April 28. Almost there. It doesn't say anything about guests, though. I guess, I may just bring them, and have them hang out outside if they aren't allowed inside. Please update my timeline.

We went through the question at the end of the N400 then she made me sign and she congratulate me.

I had with me all my paperwork, tax returns, birth certificates (me and my daughters) in both languages, etc... she didnt ask for anything.

It was a really nice experience!

I really have to say, that, being on a forum like VJ, we read a few of "horror" stories, it can make us stress for nothing!

If your case is legit, if you did your homework, if you are a good resident... you should be good!

You should be fine. My ex waited 3 weeks until he got his oath invitation. He is also in Boston.

Me and my wife together with 3,938 more in Los Angeles, became US Citizens yesterday morning. There was another session in the afternoon which probably had a similar number of people. The ceremony went smoothly. We checked in a little before 8am. We got to our seats around 8:10. Judge arrived around 9am and conducted the oath. A couple more speeches, announcements and congratulations ensued and the ceremony ended with the singing of the National Anthem and God Bless the USA. We waited for another 10 minutes for our section to be called then lined up for the Naturalization Certificate. Something to note though, my wife's certificate came with the photo she submitted with the n-400 packet (no signature in front). Mine had the biometrics photo with a digital signature.

Thanks for all the help and volunteered information in this forum. I almost never had to ask questions myself since a lot of the people before me had already asked them and the answers were readily available. Good luck to those still in the middle of this process. I wish yours goes as well as mind did. Now on to the passport application!
