Do they want to know exactly how you met on facebook?

I don't see the harm in providing as much detail as possible.... saves getting a later RFE when they potentially ask for more detail? Just my opinion, other VJ users may be more useful!

Are you talking about for the petition or for the interview?

For the petition I just wrote that we met on social media. For the interview if they ask he will tell them exactly how. In this day and age it's becoming common place. I don't think it surprising anymore.

Well, with the interview from hell thread, they were in a high fraud risk county.

I am in Australia, low risk.

For the petition we just wrote met on facebook, talked for a while etc

Didn't go into specifics about how I added her.

Only reason I ask is because I added her randomly. There was no mutual friends, and that interview from hell thread worried me because they wanted to know specifics and they wanted to know mutual friends names

All you can do is tell the truth and keep your fingers crossed. Like you said, you are from a low risk country so fingers crossed they won't delve into it too much. And realistically, people randomly add others all the time, so this is something which could potentially become more common for them! Good luck!

On the petition, my husband wrote that we met online. No specifics. In the interview, I said that we met on an online dating site. Again, no specifics were given and no specifics were asked for. The CO said that she heard it all the time, so wasn't surprised that we met online and didn't dig further.

Unfortunately, for JonYork and his fiancee, their experience is a worst case scenario interview, but with the best outcome. The probability of an Australian beneficiary going through a similar "worst case" experience is slim to none. Their case also had a number of potential red flags. If you don't have similar issues then their experience is not likely to be your experience.

Read "interview from hell" they wanted SPECIFICS!

That was a high fraud country with a relationship that was outside cultural norms.

I was asked about how exactly i met my wife at the embassy but it was one question about the website and one about how I found her on there. Not difficult to answer at all.

We also met randomly on FB with no mutual friends. Don't worry it happens!

So it's okay if I say it was a random add if they ask?

I was actually searching for a friend with a similar name, she popped up in the search results and I added her because she was cute.

Well then there you go! Tell them exactly that!
