Hi I'm new to this site just found it cause I've been reading and trying to get informed I think we are in the last steps of the journey my wife had her i130 approved back in 2013 and we file all the paper work to the national visa center by May of this year 2014. She had her appointment on sept 4 in Tegucigalpa Honduras at the embassy. She was refused normal as that's what we expected since we have to file for a i601 waiver, we sent the paper work in and we also filed for an expedite since her mother just had a heart transplant this year and she's the main care taker. Immigration cashed the check for the 601 on oct/17/2014 and when should I expect to hear back from them and what happens after the i601 is approved????

It's ~6 - 12 months for an I-601. Not sure you will receive the expedite.

What is the k1??

A K1 fiancee visa. My fiancee was found inadmissible at her interview so we needed 601.

It was a lot of work but we had no problem with USCIS.

We were really happy when we got it approved after "only" 3.5 months.

We were then really frustrated with the amount of time and prodding it took to get the embassy to review everything again and issue the visa....9 more weeks after 601 approval seemed like forever and hopeless occasionally.

I am lucky though I was able to spend almost half my time with her over the year we waited, other half of the time I went back to CA and ran my business. 14 transpacific roundtrips in 14 months.

She has been here now since August 21 and wedding is this Friday Oct 31!

Wedding 14.5 months after K1 first submitted....

Congrats on the approval. In my case we have been married for almost 3 years and together for lil more than 10 years already and have two kids she was living here in VA and had to return to honduras to finalize the process. Had her appointment on sept 4 and soon after we sent in the waiver (601) now we are just waiting on the response. I'm going next month to see her I'm excited to go but can't wait until it's all done.

Was there a reason you did not do the I 601A?

That makes sense.

Hi I am new to this page, my husband has a pending case too. He filed for a waiver I-601A in August of 2013 and was denied in November 2013 for the reason not enough evidence of extreme hardship. In October of 2014 we send new evidence of paper work again (a 2nd waiver and paying new fees) on Oct.21 they accept his case again and send us a receipt letter. On November 13,2014 he had biometrics done and On December 31, 2014 our waiver was Approved. So it really depends who ever handled our case was fast enough Thank God!! Now i'm waiting for the National Visa Center to contact us with a letter, I keep hearing different stories so it will see if it goes as fast as it did with the USCIS waiver approval.. Good Luck!!
