Sadly, the eviction was scheduled for today, and Mohamed was just leaving NYC. Only Dani was in court for the last hearing; we'll see who shows up tomorrow. She only owes $398.23. I guess she's still unemployed. I feel bad for her poor daughters. Her location is listed in FB as Norwalk, OH; his is still Sandusky, and he says that's where he's headed from NYC.

You seem to get all of the good dirt. Any idea who showed up?

I'm pretty sure they're not together now.

What makes you think they're not together? Something he's been posting?

Oddly, the plaintiff asked for a continuance and for the move out to be canceled. The continuance is set for December 18. I'll check back after that for an update.

They're not together, at least not currently. Frankly, I'm glad. He needs some time away from all that drama to discover what's best for him. I know a lot of people feel that he is obligated to Dani. I understand that, but, on the other hand, people who come here on a K1 visa don't deserve to be treated as chattel.

That whole relationship spoke train wreck from the beginning. 90 Day Fiancee editors hardly had to do a thing, the drama created itself. I'm not going to judge the people behind the characters based on what the characters in the show do though. I'm sure there's tons we don't know about what's gone on there, although I suspect it doesn't get much better.

I got so annoyed with all the misinformed people who kept saying "90 days to decide if you want to be with someone is not enough." Well no of course not, that is something they had to decide BEFORE they made the decision to get married! They have 90 days to GET MARRIED! Ugh.

Now I agree that if you have only met in person once, as is the requirement for the visa, it is not a long time to truly get to know someone. But of course that is never said in the show.

The show wants you to believe the "mail order bride" fantasy. But to be honest the average American viewer isn't likely well versed in immigration ins and outs. Many Canadian friends don't understand my immigration woes at the moment and believe that since I married Mr. transborder I automatically get a green card.

Yes, I also had some people thinking that I got the green card instantly when I got married. And yes, judging by the comments from some of the families on the show, they have no clue of the process and the show is not helping to correct that skewed view.

I'll admit to being one who was under the impression that the green card was more-or-less instant, until a friend of mine was engaged to an Irish woman and all these issues popped up. I was floored, and couldn't really believe that they actually expect married people to spend months/years apart while they do paperwork. The K1 visa seems like a good way around this to at least be together (although it doesn't help people who are already married) but of course, no green card for months on end can be a real problem. Plus, they let the backlog get so bad that the K1 visa isn't exactly a fast option anyway.

I think it comes down to the fact that as US Citizens, as much as we complain about the government etc, we are afforded a great amount of freedoms and are basically used to getting whatever we want and need in a decently timely fashion (again, more or less), or at least there being some other way, some fast track--like an expedited passport, if you're willing to pay for it. This process.....not so much. I could go on and on about why this particular process is so painfully slow (and there are many reasons, some legitimate and some outright political) but....my head already hurts.

Marriage/ AOS Timeline:

23 Dec 2015: Legal marriage

23 Jan 2016: Wedding!

23 Jan 2016: "Blizzard of the Century", wedding canceled/rescheduled (thank goodness we were legally married first or we'd have had a big problem!) :sleepy:

24 Jan 2016: Small "civil ceremony" with friends and family who were snowed in with us. December was a bit of a secret and people had traveled internationally and knew we *had* to get married that weekend, and our December legal marriage was nothing but signing a piece of paper at our priest's kitchen table, without any sort of vows etc so this was actually a very special (if not legally significant) day. (L)

16 Apr 2016: Filed for AOS and EAD/AP (We delayed a bit-- no big rush, enjoying the USCIS break)

23 Apr 2016: Wedding! Finally! :luv:

27 Apr 2016: Electronic NOA1 for all 3 :dancing:
29 Apr 2016: NOA1 Hardcopy for all 3
29 Jul 2016: Online service request for late EAD (Day 104)
29 Jul 2016: EAD/AP Approved ~3 hours after online service request
04 Aug 2016: RFE for Green Card (requested medicals/ vaccination record. They already have it). :ranting:
05 Aug 2016: EAD/AP Combo Card arrived! (Day 111)
08 Aug 2016: Congressional constituent request to get guidance on the RFE. Hoping they see they have the form and approve!

K-1 Visa Timeline:

PLEASE NOTE. This timeline was during the period of time when TSC was working on I-129fs and had a huge backlog. The average processing time was 210+ days. This is in no way predictive of your own timeline if you filed during or after April 2015, unless CSC develops a backlog. A backlog is anything above the 5-month goal time listed on USCIS's site

14 Feb 2015: Mailed I-129f to Dallas Lockbox. (L) (Most expensive Valentine's card I've ever sent!)

17 Feb 2015: NOA1 "Received Date"
19 Feb 2015: NOA1 Notice Date
08 Aug 2015: NOA2 email! :luv: (173 days from NOA1)

17 Aug 2015: Sent to NVC

?? Aug 2015: Arrived at NVC

25 Aug 2015: NVC Case # Assigned

31 Aug 2015: Left NVC for Consulate in San Jose

09 Sep 2015: Consulate received :dancing: (32 days from NOA2)

11 Sep 2015: Packet 3 emailed from embassy to me, the petitioner (34 days from NOA2).

18 Sep 2015: Medicals complete

21 Sep 2015: Packet 3 complete, my boss puts a temporary moratorium on all time off due to work emergency :clock:

02 Oct 2015: Work emergency clears up, interview scheduled (soonest available was 5 business days away--Columbus Day was in there)

13 Oct 2015: Interview

13 Oct 2015: VISA APPROVED  (236 days from NOA1)

19 Oct 2015: Visa-in-hand

24 Oct 2015: POE !

15 Dec 2015: Fiance's mother's B-2 visa interview: APPROVED! So happy she will be at the wedding!

Yes absolutely. No mention of the process itself nor its effects on those involved. And why is that excluded from the show? Because no one cares and it won't sell. It won't get the ratings and that's all they care about.

My fiancé's mother has asked several times why I don't simply marry Elena, go to the embassy, get the visa and then bring her home with me. Her mother has a precedent in that a woman they know did this very thing with a man from Germany. We've had to explain several times that America isn't Germany and that the process is different. Germany's process makes sense, ours is efff'd up.

Again, most Americans don't care and aren't interested in the details. I have lost count of the number of people who have told me that I shouldn't be doing this anyway, that I should "marry my your own kind", etc. The point being that those Americans had no sympathy whatsoever regarding the atrocities and the miserable condition of the process. Some went so far as to say that they were glad it was so difficult because it would discourage others from going down the same path. With all that in mind, it's little wonder that this type of stuff isn't mentioned in 90 day fiancé, ratings aside.

Part of the misconception comes from the fact that in the not so distant past (i.e. when my parents moved here in the 80s), all you did need to do was bring your foreign spouse to America, walk into the immigration office, and boom greencard!

You bring up a good point here: if it is not something that you have to know, why would you. And I don't blame those not understanding the process. I do have a problem with, like others here have said too, the show completely disregarding the fact that there was a process before the "90 days." Now people who did not have a clue before, now have even less of a clue, while they think they know everything. But the show must go on, the ratings must go up. No time to bring reality into a reality show!

But maybe they can generate some drama out of what went into the process before the fiance's got here. "On the next episode...did Mohamed get his K-1 visa, or will Danielle have to visit him so that they can get married and file for a spouse visa?" :D
