E-filed taxes

Umm..... if my fiance filed his income tax returns online, how do we get the 1040? Should we print it out from the website or should we wait for the IRS to send it back to us later? (will they send it back tho?). And....if if we have to print it out, we've filed a few days ago, can we find the link we went to print the filled out 1040?......am i getting confusing? sorry >.<!

The IRS does not send anything back. You should always print a copy of what you submit for your own records.

The IRS does not send back a confirmation that you filed your taxes. But you can request a copy transcript by calling them. Not sure if this is possible yet if we are talking about 2006 taxes.

Did you use a program to efile? Or did you do it directly with the IRS? If you used a program, (like turbotax) then I'm sure you have a saved copy you just need to reprint.

If he didn't print a copy when he e-filed, he would need to contact the IRS to find out how to get a copy.

that sucks.......so it would take weeks till we get the transcript/copy from irs if we cant retrieve the paperwork...

O.K. makes sense - Why not go back on line, fill out all the forms again, and then print out your return just before they ask you to file? You should have an exact copy of your return.

BTW, Bangkok accepted my copy without any questions.

IF HE DID IT online with turbotax there's a record of the 1040 saved on his profile, that way you can always go in there and print a copy just have to sign and date it, but if mailed directly to the IRS you can call them up for a transcript, it's a recorded message and you should get it within 1 week or 2.

uhm....i am pretty sure he did it online, but dunno what he used..... but i dont think he was using a software to file. But anyways... lemme find out so I could suggest him few things that you guys have told me.

My co-sponsor used turbotax and just forwarded a copy of the form to me.
