I have 2 questions: #1- My wife whom I'm sponsoring to come live with me, is currently unemployed there. Is that a bad thing, or is that something they don't really look at at the time of interview? Reading screenshots of the DS-260, question 12 of part 1 asks "Present Occupation", I wanna put "unemployed" because that's what she really is. Would that be ok? Question #2- On part 1 of DS-260 screenshots question #3 says, "Full name in Native Alphabet". What really does this mean? Should I just write her whole name, i.e. FIRST, LAST? Thanks in advance for the answers!! I've learned so much here from all of you, I honestly feel confident I can do NVC on my own without a professional because of all of you, so thank you so much.

What I do t understand is, why you are not getting it. By asking same question again and again is not going to change the answers. Most of the VJ members had responded your concerns many times and in different ways. I myself had responded couple of time.

Just take it easy and don't panic... She will be fine even if she is unemployed, I think US government is extensively checking beneficiaries background. Questions about writing her name in native language is a different topic. I think vj members have already responded on it. We did the same thing. Good luck.

Hi all,

I submitted the DS-261 on 7/26, but between that time and waiting for the IV bill, my wife (beneficiary) mistakenly clicked on the DS-261 link but did not resubmit. As a result, the DS-261 status shows as "incomplete". I read here in the forums and called NVC and confirmed, and they said that as long as it was not resubmitted, the 30 business day counter would not be reset.

I found out by calling NVC that the DS-261 was reviewed and accepted on 9/4 and I received my IV bill on 9/10. So looks like there was no problem clicking on the link (phew). I mailed the IV package docs on 9/12.

My question, though, is how long after the IV bill has been paid should I have to wait for the DS-260 available to fill online? I'm still seeing a "Not started" status with no link to complete the form. I called NVC and they said it should be available about 3-4 business days after IV bill is marked as "Paid." I called a second time after 3-4 business days and then they said they don't know if anything is wrong and that we should wait (he didn't even offer a timeframe).

Has this happened to anyone? The DS-261 remains "Incomplete" and you didn't have the ability to submit the DS-260?

Please let me know. Thank you!

click on NoT Started under DS260 and it should get your DS260 started

Hi Guys came to a point where I need some help now. I have made it all this way but my co sponsors have flaked out on us at the last minute. My mother is there to help me but her income was below the poverty line. Can I use her assets to qualify ?

Hello,

In order to qualify based on the value of assets the cash value of your assets must be at least five times (three times if filing for spouse or minor child) the difference between your income and the 125% of the poverty line for your household size. Example: Your household size is four and you have an income of $18,000. 125% of the poverty line for your household is $27,562. Therefore the value of your assets must total at least five times the difference between $18,000 and $27,562, i.e. $9,562 X 5 = $47,810.

Thanks! I tried calling, but the guy at NVC said to wait and when I asked how long, he said he doesn't know - to wait until they review the document packages that I sent them and find that the DS-261 is showing as incomplete even though it actually has been completed.

I will try calling again though and hope to speak to someone more helpful or a supervisor.

I would call NVC back and ask to speak with a supervisor, I think the link is not working because your DS-261 is showing as incomplete.

They can probably fix that at their end and edit it to show completed. Speak with a supervisor and tell them how it has been 3-4 business days and the link is still not working plus the incomplete on DS-261.

My DS-260 was available to start as soon as the IV fees showed paid, I didn't have to wait 3-4 business days and I don't think anyone else did either.

My wife has been a resident in France for the past two years but at the end of October, she will go back to China since she is a Chinese citizen. The DS-260 has been completed and I am about to send out the IV packet in a week or so. Currently, her consulate is Paris, France.

I am wondering if we should change the consulate now or wait till the case is complete and then request that the consulate be moved to Beijing, China? I am just worried that if we do something right now, it may mess up the AOS and IV process and end up costing us way more time than applying for a change of consulate after the case is complete.

Another options is to just hang out in France until the interview but that may take months to come around though.
