It can be a one-way, but usually a round-trip is easier. A round-trip ticket is only a requirement for the VWP, not a B-2 visa.

If they try to enter the US on a B-2 with a one-way, they may have problems.

Usually return tickets are cheaper.

What Boiler said

Also why would you only buy a one way ticket. It's not like they are immigrating and their return can be really far in the future if they are not going back for a while, like an extended vacation. Mine was coming here February and going back December.

On all my previous entries to US as a B1/B2 visa holder, the immigration officer always asked for my return ticket, so yeah, it's advisable that your parents get a round trip ticket.

If you're concerned that their travel itinerary or when they want to go back home is not yet finalized, then just get an open-ended / flexible return ticket.

Thanks all for the response, yes I know round trip is cheaper. But, my parents may or may not stop over in London to visit my sibling on their way back. So for now I bought only one way tickets as we were not sure about the return flights. They are flying in couple of weeks, Do you guys recommend buying return tickets for sure?

I would say its better to be safe than sorry. I would never take such risk if I were you. Why would you want to take risk of getting denied of US entry even if risk was low? ( as long as I know, odds of denial at POE wouldn't be low and odds of going through secondary inspection would be much higher )

February 28- AOS package sent. ( I-130, I-485, I-765)
March 5- Package delivered to USCIS Chicago.
March 11- Email and text notification with Receipt Numbers.

April 16- Text and email alert for case update for AOS interview on 22nd May 2014.
April 18- Hardcopy of Interview notice received in mail.
May 22- AOS interview, approved on the spot and got stamp in my passport.
May 27 - Approval notice of I-130 and I-485 in mail.

Probably minor, but nobody can tell you in advance.

I found this link which states you don't need a roundtrip ticket. http://london.usembassy.gov/faq-visa-gen.html#niv406 Still confused as to what to do?

Nobody said a round trip was required.

I have a quick question friends, I have my parents travelling on B2 visitors visa. Do they need to carry a roundtrip ticket with them? Or just a oneway ticket would suffice.

In all likelihood the airlines will require a return ticket in order to allow them to board a plane to the US on a B visa, and chances are the CBP office will ask for one too.

Play it safe and get them a return ticket. You can always reroute it - for a fee of course - and add a stop in London on the way back.

Good luck!
