Our application was transferred to a local USCIS office. How do you know if it was CSC or an actual local office? Were you notified?

we were transfered to California from Texas and you will know where you have been transfered when you receive your mail

Your case status update (on the USCIS website) will change and you may also receive a transfer notice in the mail! expect a decent approval time frame from CSC unless otherwise! Good luck!

Guys,

Please share your wisdom! What did you do to get your application transfered tom TSC to CSC?

Thanks!

. It's likely they weren't transfered. Everyone sends their app to the Texas lockbox. After they get there they are either sent to TSC or CSC. Your center is chosen by the state that you reside in. I am from TN so mine goes to TSC and if someone is from Illinois....they are sent to CSC. There is a list somewhere on here that tells you which state goes to which!

You cannot get your petition transferred yourself. USCIS occasionally does bulk transfers for load balancing. Rarely. Last one happened last August for April/May 2014 filers. And has done nothing to shorten processing times by the way. TSC is right now still processing July and August filers 2014, with a smaller number of June filers still waiting.

But what about if you move to California or one of the states that processed at CSC and then apply for change of address? Does that get your application transferred?

Also, can you explain why some people from June haven't been processed but those from July and August have been? Is it strictly based on the fact that they have missing documents in their application or are there other factors that delay their applications? If so, what are they?

No. Change of address does not trigger a transfer.

For the second thing: I have no clue. Some people were RFE'd for sure. The Service center works in batches, but how exactly batches are assigned I do not know. You are either lucky and in an early batch - which seems to mean 6 months to approval or you are unlucky in a late batch. Which can be 8 months to approvals.

I have seen lucky July filers get their NOA-2 in Jan. But there is still a number waiting and it is basically March. Similarly, some August filers began getting approvals about a week and a half ago - though two thirds are still waiting. Damned if I understand the process.

Again, this is based on current timing. No one knows how approval times will develop in the future. Since I have been here, there has been a creep from 190d average to 205d average. The trend is still slowing down. And you have to realize that averages mean there is a large number of people above average!

I am still hoping for July.

Thanks for clarifying! Yes, I am absolutely terrified but we can only hope for the best. I guess my worst fear is that I simply won't be able to enter the united states before getting my K1. Because technically we could have a 'sham' ceremony with our friend and family in september and then get married legally once we have the K1, I just want to make sure I'll be able to get into the states.

You're Canadian right? Why wouldn't you be able to enter the USA before receiving your K-1 visa? Many Canadians on this board have had no problem visiting their fiance(e) while waiting on the K-1.

And yes, as TaebeaK noted, those of us transferred were just blessed with good luck and certainly not due to anything we did. it was just a random mass transfer in August for April/May filers.
