A Morehead City, North Carolina woman found a buttery swastika on the chicken biscuit she ordered from a McDonald's drive thru. Charleigh Matice tells CNN affiliate WCTI, "I really didn't have an appetite at the point so I said I'd rather have my money back." But she wants McDonald's to take more action. WCTI received a statement from McDonald's saying, "We are very sorry for the service that our customers received, and to be clear we have terminated the employee who was involved. We do not tolerate that kind of behavior at McDonald's, and it's not what we stand for personally as owners. It is about providing the best level of service and care to our customers, and anything less than that is unacceptable to us." - Dulcy Purcell, local McDonald's Owner/Operator in Morehead City, NC

The McDonald employee is stupid to do stuff like that, tempting with food.

But I think people are really so sensitive to every little thing, making a hole out of a molehill.

seems like much to do about nothing. She is probably looking for a pay day. I would suspect the kid had no clue what the meaning was,

I date a girl when I was single. Her son had a swastika on his notebook. I started to explain to him, why this wrong. He really did not have a clue, and said they were the anti smoking Nazi's. He got it from a video game. His mom thought i was smart because i knew what a Swastika was. I knew hen, that despite her being very sexually accommodating an very hot, it was not going to be a long term relationship.

You're buying a product from McDonald's, not an ideology.

That someone working for the chain was horsing around and thought it was hilarious to put a swastika in a sandwich is a failure of quality control standards.

Reasonable people know that McDonald's doesn't represent Nazism, however McDonald's has to stand behind the quality of its food (such as it is) and its customer service.

It isn't much ado about nothing, its a customer service failure that requires a swift response.

As it should have done. That doesn't mean the customer isn't entitled to anything beyond the firing of the one guy.

Holy Jesus first post of ignore and we agree

I think 99% of the public would never have noticed. I would have eaten the darn thing and never even saw it, and the "quality" of the food was never even an issue.

What does a symbol even mean? If you didn't live during that era, it may mean little to nothing to you. If you are an older Jew, it might have meaning. Was the customer Jewish? Why did it upset her so?

When I was working in India, I noticed some of the doorways had swastikas at the top. Apparently that's some Hindu good luck symbol that the Nazis hijacked.

Because the swastika is an indelible image of the Nazi era?

Because if someone is dicking around in the back of the restaurant, a person might reasonably wonder what else has been done to their food.

It is and it is still used in some Asian countreis today.

In Europe and America, not so much.

The Indus valley was the home of the Aryan civilization. The swastika was a sybol of good fortune for thousands of years until Hitler came along and corrupted it.

It's a shame that happened. If you tried to wear one now, you'd get the business.
