Good morning!

We thought we have our package done, but then I saw a note on USCIS website that they prefer ACCO fasteners to hold the packages together...

How did you all assemble your package?

At the moment I've it like this:

Cover letter with all evidence listed

I-751 with check and GC copy

Evidence (pile of paper, but sorted according to cover letter, separated by paper clips and ultimately held together by a rubber band - it's about 300-400 pages total (since all bank statements etc are in there) and about 100 pictures in two envelopes).

There are no tabs/dividers etc though.

So I wonder if I can send it in like this or if they won't be too happy about that...

I used paperclips! You should be fine sending it in the way it is! tabs and dividers are a "no no" possibly because they may take the USCIS mailing room clerks sometime to disassemble your package once it gets to them!

I disagree that tabs or dividers are a no-no. While they very likely do disassemble the packages and put them into their own organization system, I think that anything that makes it easier to find what they are looking for is a plus.

Your package sounds very much like ours with paper clips to divide the different types of evidence and a rubber band to keep the whole lot together. We were approved with no issues.

That depends. Are they going off a list looking for something? Or are they just checking things off a list as they go through the evidence? I'm thinking the latter as it would be faster to check things off as you find them.

I stapled all documents that had more than one page together, and then just piled it all together in order of a contents list I included.

Adjustment of Status from H-1B, Family-Based
07/26/2012 - 10/18/2012: 85 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Removal of Conditions
07/22/2014 - 11/14/2014: 116 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Naturalization
02/03/2016 - 05/31/2016 : 119 Days from Application Received to Oath Ceremony.

I am a United States citizen!

Thanks. I decided to follow the USCIS guidelines and put everything into an ACCO Prong Fastener. I split it up in about 10 sections and put sticky tags on the bottom for each section.

hi i just sent my i751 form and i found this thread and the instructions of assembling form right after left the package to send. i didn't know that u can't  staple and also didn't put sticky labels to make things easier. but did everything else. i just didn't know there is a certain way u have to send it. is it gonna be a problem? i feel really tensed now.

there is no mandatory way to send it in - it is all "recommended" - more so for the easiness of use once they get it - if you used staples they will just have to un-staple it , if you didn't label it , they will need to match the docs ....no harm done ...

if all your documents are there they will review them just as well - they are not punishing anyone for being messy:) ( not saying you are...) - it just makes the process faster if they are sent per their recommendations...
