Sammie,

I feel your pain. Lawyers will say anything to get paid.

FIRE that lawyer now!!

Things have been working out but you should know that VISA is not guaranteed despites everything going on smoothly till this point. Lots of people have dots the I s and crossed Ts but got denied.

So scheduling your wedding is huge and risjy mistake. I would suggest your reschedule to give yourself enough time for the unpredictable.

But I hope you get the visa soon!

Good luck

No I went for my medical Thursday, but they found I had a heart murmur so I've had an ECG and I just sent the documentation to London medical , that's where I'm at?

Can you work out a time frame for me?

This is LONDON information and does not translate to any other embassy procedure. They all do it differently.

The reason you haven't gotten an interview then is because you aren't eligible for one yet. Your medical results have not been released to the embassy because of the additional medical information the clinic required of you. You can call Knightsbridge in a few days and ask when your medical results were sent. It is a short distance by courier, so you can assume your medical file will be received the same day sent.

Count forward three weeks and that is a recent average amount of time to hear something by letter. The interview will (on average) be about 3 weeks from the letter. Then most visas are in hand one week later, but some have waited two weeks. You know each case is different, but that is a general timeline where you wouldn't suspect they had forgotten you if you didn't hear anything immediately.

BUT....... there are currently worldwide complications because of a computer crash of the Department of State database. That's the "parent" agency over every embassy. All visa issuance has halted and a huge backlog is amassing at every embassy. It happened July 19 and is still not resolved. One of the news stories http://news.msn.com/us/glitch-crashes-global-us-passport-visa-operations

I would guess the backlog could easily affect when the embassy moves forward with your appointment, interview, and visa printing. That is speculation but a problem this serious affecting every embassy could easily alter what has been the average timeline lately for those who are awaiting interviews and visas.

You might want to follow this thread to keep up reports on the computer problem. People add to it as they find information http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/507032-not-good-news-glitch-crashes-global-us-passport-visa-operations/

Note: This does not affect people waiting on NOA2. Your case is not with the Dept of State yet.

I read the bolded part of the quoted post and thought it warranted some clarification, since many people reading the posts on these forums take every word to heart. Very few people who apply for the K-1 visa get denied. Requests for additional evidence or extra steps, yes, but not a flat-out denial. The vast majority in the end either end up getting the K-1 or petitioning for a different type of visa to bring their significant other to the US.

Waiting months on end is hard enough. No need to make people more pessimistic than is necessary :)

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. But I personally believe that 'warning signs could have been any color but red'..

If even 10 out 1000 applicants get denied, do you think those 10 people don't count?

I wouldn't wanna be one of those "few" people that get denied visa and I think OP wouldn't either.

It is better to be warned and prepare yourself than to scrumble at the last minute.

I witnessed a man get denied visa at the consulate in Accra, Ghana on the basis that he and his petitioner (his fiancée) looked alike so they could possibly be related by blood.

I totally appreciate your concern but like I have explained with examples above, we have different approach to issues and that's my way..Unfortunately, unapologetic.

Hi, My name is Samantha,

im having a nightmare with my k1 visa and i need some strong advise, help and guidence.

I have had my medical in london, i have done my DS-160 online, and got all the documentation needed.

I have sent off for the readiness of interview also.

The whole process has been from december for us and now were almost in august and still i havent heard anything regarding my interview.

We have a wedding booked and paid for on October 17th 2014 which is 2 months away.

how can i get my interview before this date and any advise on what to do???

thanks

sammi x

You need to fill in your timeline so we can get a better time frame.

When did you send away the action of readiness ?

When I sent away my action of readiness I received my interview date 3 days later in the mail 11/11/2013. which was for 2 weeks later.25/11/2013

I received my visa literally a week after my interview.02/12/2013

So hopefully you get your interview date soon, IF you get your interview date and it is soon. I would say you should be fine.

But if your interview date takes awhile you might be pushing it. generally ppl have their visas in hand a week after the interview date.

2 months is gonna come by very quick.

IF..,.,and I say IF you have not posted your timeline, before you post one word, you should have posted your time line.,.,.,it tells the experts so much more about you.

I will say one thing, YOUR attorney should become a member of VJ.com,.,.,.,.the number 1 rule, "NEVER, EVER BUY AN airline ticket, book a wedding, NOTHING.,.,.,.UNTIL,..,.you have your visa in hand!"" Never!

Best of luck.,.,.hope your situation speeds up soon!

I would be putting your interview date approximately 4-6 weeks from when they receive your completed medical details from the doctor. I think you will be cutting it very fine to get everything complete to get married by October.
