Well first of all congratulations! in my opinion i would recommend the fiance visa still because it tends to process faster and you could be together hopefully before the birth of the baby unless it is too close for her to be able to fly... Other people may say otherwise I am not sure. But if you are going to file i would file ASAP

Pregnancy doesn't qualify for an expedite in either visa route. K3 are very rare and take just as long as the CR1, and the CR1 is the superior visa.

Pregnancy and birth is very expensive in the USA which should be part of your consideration.

~~moved to what visa do I need from K3 process and procedures as OP is debating visa paths~~

I was planning on filing for the fiance visa for my fiance but we found out last week that she's pregnant. Will the spouse visa be the best option? Has anyone experienced an unplanned pregnancy in this situation?

Pregnancy in this case is entirely irrelevant. If you want to get married soon because of it, that limits your visa choices to CR-1, if not - you can go for K-1 - will be quicker.

Sounds iffy to get a K1 though before birth, they have not started.

Lots of unplanned pregnancies here.

You can not expedite for pregnancy.

The K-1 will take 6-12 months.

A spousal visa will take 8-16 months.

Nothing to acknowledge.

Birth Certificate depends on where the child is born.

CRBA is what you will need if not in the US.

Thanks for the responses. If I do the K-1 visa, how do I go about acknowledging the pregnancy? I've also read about a special birth certificate where my child can get an USA passport. Is there any truth to this?

The US does not require you to acknowledge a pregnancy for the K-1. In fact, there is nothing to report to the US government until the baby is born and is recognized as a person.

There is no special birth certificate. The child gets a local birth certificate. You report the birth of a US citizen abroad with a Consular Report of a Birth Abroad. The CRBA is not a special birth certificate. When applying for the CRBA, you can also apply for a US passport.
