Hello everyone,

I just have a quick question regarding the biometrics for I-751.

I filed my I-751 petition on 4/30/2014 and received the 1 year extension letter on 5/5/2014. It has been two months already but I have not received the biometrics appointment letter yet. So I called the USCIS 1-800 line a few days ago to ask about the situation. The agent put a request for me to have the appointment letter delivered, but I received the email from the USCIS with the following response:

Type of service requested:
-- Non-Delivery of Other Notice

The status of this service request is:

A review of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicates that your biometric information is current, and it is not necessary for you to appear at an Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics appointment at this time. The biometrics fee will not be refunded. USCIS will contact you if updated biometric information or any other additional information is needed to process your petition.

Could anyone please provide any guidance on how I should do next? Also, is it possible to receive the approval without the biometrics?

Thanks in advance!

Recently for some applicants, the biometrics is not necessary and they use old records. As stated, the fee is not refundable. Now you are waiting on either an approval (hopefully!), an RFE, an interview (which can follow an RFE), or a denial (nooooooo!).

What I find annoying is that for those who do not actually need the biometrics retaken, no notice seems to be sent out. This leaves people like you wondering what the next step is or if the biometrics notice was lost in the mail. Terrible communication on USCIS's part.

Good luck! :)

Don't bet on filing a request and just waiting, call and talk to a tier 2 to find out the status of your biometrics and if you need one then if you have been scheduled a appointment. Also ask for a tracking number to check case status online.

A similar thing happened to me, where I had submitted a service request (non-delivery) 2 weeks ago - around the same time they apparently sent a appointment notice (still hasn't arrived). I only found out by talking to 3 tier 2 reps yesterday and my appointment on the 16th! Luckily they were able to fax me the missing letter. Even called Tuesday and got the same old standard response of waiting.

Make sure you know for sure!

No biometric appointment for I-751 was required for me either. They don't even send a notice to advise you of this. The entire process from Submission of I-751 to the time the Green Card received in the mail took just under 3 (three) months. Had I known, i would not have renewed my Driver License for an extra year and avoiced an extra fee at the DMV. LOL

I had this as well; however you need the receipt number on the biometrics notice to actually track your case online. In my case they sent this number to me along with the response:

Recently you or your representative contacted USCIS concerning your Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (Form I-751) to notify us that you did not receive your Application Support Center (ASC) appointment notice. Below is a summary of what we found and how the issue has been or may be resolved.

You can check the status of your case online at www.uscis.gov using receipt number EACXXXXXXXXXX.

So I had to do this in order to get an update on the status of my case. As you know, the receipt number on the I-797 is useless for that.

I know it's been a while since the original question, but I have a similar one - if no bio appt is needed, will the WAC tracking number provided on the NOA be the one to use to rack the 751 status online? I read that we were supposed to wait to get a number off of the bio notice, but I can't do that if I don't get one...

Still waiting for my bio as well for 2 months since applied. You can call and ask for your actual tracking number by asking to connect you with tier 2. I did this way and they were able to give my number. But I think if there is no bio required we will get a letter and they should include this number as well. I still don't know number for my son( he was included in my application) so just have to wait to hear from them in any case...

WHAT RECENTLY MEANS? 2 YEARS? OR LESS?

Good question. As I've heard it's valid for 15 months. I took my last ones in June 2015. There is no way they are still good. No bio for me and my son either, been waiting for almost 3 months, made few service requests and nothing. Same answer: " Wait till your appt will be scheduled". So frustrating.
