1. Can a beneficiary do the medical test as soon as NVC gives the case number or does she have to wait for the consulate to send her the interview letter?

2. How many days can there be between the medical test and the interview? Is 30 days an acceptable number?

Am not sure if it is the same process as in the Philippines (USEM Manila), you might wanna check on your country specifics.. Anyway, in PI, as soon as we get our case number, the beneficiary can do his/her medicals.. I emailed NVC at that time to give me a copy of the case number and I emailed it to my husband to show it to them along with a copy of our NOA2.. I believe medicals should be done at least 1 week before the scheduled interview, the earlier the better, to give them enough time to send all ur info to the embassy.. But remember, that visa validity is tied to the date when you took your medicals and not when it was issued..

Good Luck!

The beneficiary will receive a medical letter (to be completed the day of the check up) and the interview letter as well in the same package.

I asked the same question to the IV unit and I was told that the medical Exam is only valid for so long. So if you do it too early you could be denied at POE. At least that is what the counselor told me a few weeks ago.

Who told you the visa validity tied to the date of medical exam? if you did medical exam one month before interview the the validity of the visa start from the date of your medical exam?. I think you have wrong information here. Please clarify them or correct. The visa is valid 6 months since the day of issue, not the day of medical exam.

In some countries medical exam valid for 6 months and some is valid 1 year. This is up to USA and they decide about it.

Thanks

Yes, because the medical exam is only valid for so long.. this was written on my husbands instruction letter that was mailed to him after we got approved (NOA2).. Mind you, this is in PI, am not sure with the other countries how they do it.. Visa validity is normally valid for 6 months from the date of issuance, but then again, it is limited with the medicals.. I know, we are not the only ones that has visa validity of less than 6 months (if you count it from issuance date), and that is because, it was tied to the date of the medicals.. If you look at my timeline, my husbands 1st medical date is October 24, 2013; Then Visa was issued - November 21, 2013; and Expiration date is April 24, 2014 (exactly 6 months from the date of his medicals)

You need a copy of the IL to make an appointment for Medical. Just case # is not enough. It is a good idea to get the medical done soon after getting the IL. Same with the OFC appointment. Do it as soon as possible after receiving the IL.

In the Philippines, validity of visa is tied up to medical exam. In some countries like Indonesia, validity of visa is started from issuance date to up 6 months.

Yes, each countries has their own rules issued a visa. I read that in the Philippines, validity of visa tied up to medical exam of an applicant. In my country, the validity visa from a date of issuance up to 6 months. My visa was issued in January 23, 2014 to July 21, 2014. My medical was in December 2013.
