Our RFE says we have showed that I travelled to USA, but not that we met whilst there.

They want a detailed written statement stating we have met in person, details and circumstances of the meeting and copies of tickets and stubs, that will help USCIS determine that we have met.

Any ideas? I've already sent plane tickets, boarding cards, photo's.

I have cash withdrawal receipts, shopping receipts, car hire etc. Nothing with both our names on it.

Can't recall if I sent passport pages.

That shows you were here. But nothing to conclude you were with your fiance.

What about photos of the two of you together?

The detailed written statement is something they are certainly entitled to. I suggest you give them that.

We sent a whole pile of photo's in...........

We'll do the statement as that is what they are specifically asking for.

Are the receipts worth sending in?

Yes. Give them the statement, receipts, passport stamps, and resend your boarding passes. Have any photos together in front of any well known landmarks by chance? If yes, send those. If the USC petitioner also has any receipts dated for the same dates as your visit showing they used their ATM or credit card in the same places you did, then send those too. Anything that can show you were together in the same place at the same time.

Send in receipts, yes. We didn't have anything with both our names either, when we met in Dublin. But HE bought tickets to a hockey game in Belfast, and I bought a jersey while at the game. I sent both in for proof that we were at least in the same location at the same time. I assume that was decent evidence, as we didn't get an RFE. Everything else I sent was proof that I was in Dublin when I said I was, but nothing to prove that we actually met while I was there. Honestly, if I had known we were going to do this, I'd have insisted on a photo of us holding a newspaper with the date and headline clearly visible. Good luck!

I thin this RFE is for not answering question 34a properly. How did you answer 34a, "describe the circumstances in which you met."

AOS for my husband

Hi! I just sent my package in last week and in hope of not getting an RFE... However since I didn't have many receipts but plenty of pictures I wrote a statement of when and how we met.... Copies of passport stamps, boarding pass and currency exchange receipts and car rental receipt. Hoping that's enough proof for them!

Same thing happened to me. I was successful, by telling a story about one of the times we met and referring to evidence which I submitted. For example, So if you went to a restaurant ....say you went to a dinner at xyz restaurant(see picture and receipt) and and afterward we had ice cream( see pic) etc...Also refer to actual passport stamps and plane ticket that that were used for that trip. Don't for get to put your names on pic of who is in the pics and date.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

I have already sent the plane tickets, do you think I should send them again?

Posted (edited)

YES, you should send everything that you sent before and then add more and other things that you may not have included.

I only had 1 boarding pass to show when I sent in my forms - and no receipts. I sent in about 8 photos of me and my fiance together (with approximate month and year each photo was taken) and I sent in photocopies of all my passport book pages including blank pages) .... then I used a color marker to just draw arrows to the stamps that actually mattered (entry and exit stamps) so that they were easy to find. I also booked a hotel or two online and had reservation emails that I still had ... so I printed those up ... and also had some emails of my flight itinerary/receipts for when I purchased my tickets online. I sent those in as well.

But, yeah, I also sent in a 1/2 - 3/4 pager of how we met and the number of times I have visited, etc.

I guess we briefly said how we had met and listed the times we have met since. I guess they want more detail.

Describe and include evidences for ONE meeting. You don't get extra credit for more meetings.

I received a very similar RFE. They needed more proof that we actually met in person, even though we submitted pictures of both of us together. I flew to her country and she took a taxi from her city to where we met. I paid for everything that visit and we didn't have any receipts with both of our names. She paid cash for the taxi as well.

The issue is that aside from photos, we really don't have any other proof we were there together. The hotel took a copy of her passport, but since it has been more than 30 days, they purged it. We didn't know we needed all this before we filed. Anyway, we ended up sending in more photos, with a few landmarks (but really only one that stood out), as well as affidavits that we met in person. Hopefully that will suffice.
