Much more. There is a set of evidence required too.

You will be denied if you send in just the petition and some money.

Check out the first link I gave you a few posts ago. Good luck.

You live together in Turkey, no? You don't have a Turkish entry stamp, Turkish visa, in your passport or other proof that you live in Turkey? That will satisfy the requirement of meeting in person in the last two years.

Just take a break and come back to it. It will be clearer. Good luck.

Edit: I think you are overwhelmed now and not understanding the required evidence. Relax, and good luck.

Thanks. At least some people are being nice. I dont understand why some people were assuming I didn't even read the instructions. The empathy helps. Its just crazy

Try not to over-react and help will come. Read the Guides and Follow the Example Forms (links at the top of this page).

Just follow the steps, read the form instructions, assemble all the required documents, don't get caught up in looking at later stages...as stated, your first steps are to assemble your petition file and determine how you will attach the payment.......you can assemble everything and send it to your parents if you wish them to help.

Take a breath and relax. Not to say that the process is easy, it is most definitely not. Neither for the faint of heart, nor for the light of wallet, as they say. Understand beforehand that this process takes time and is not cheap at all. So you have to ask yourself, is it worth it? If the answer is yes, then you can pat yourself on the back, you have just overcome one hurdle, and that is knowing the motivation.

Next: Read up the guide from Harpa's link ( which I think you did already). Read it much slower this time. :)

Then: Make your own checklist, based from the list of requirements. Make a schedule on when you want to accomplish each task. You don't need to finish everything in one sitting. You will surely be overwhelmed. One step at a time.

In finishing the proof of having met, the suggestions on the guide are well just "suggestions", but these are the ones used to be proven helpful in the petition approval. You don't need to provide everything listed if not available. Your passport stamp and/or Turkish visa is a good start. Then pictures of you guys and with family and friends, etc... Anything and everything that will prove you have met in the past 2 years. The proof of on-going relationship like cards, texts, emails, chats are secondary, and you don't need to spend too much time on that. Just a few would do. Just think that your files will be reviewed by a complete stranger and you have to convince him/her that you two have a genuine loving and on-going relationship. I think you are actually very lucky that you have your fiance with you there to help you assemble this. So, take this as an opportunity for an activity that you guys can share.

By the way, just a thought, maybe you guys would also want to consider the spousal route? That is, you marry first, then file for a spousal visa. For some doing the DCF, this proved to be an easier route as they are both in the country to get all these legal paperwork done.

All the best to whichever route you take! :)

We both live in Canada and we just recently filed. What we did as proof is showed them proof that we live together, f.e. drivers license showing address, birth certificates of our 2 daughters (born the past 2 years) some pictures of us together, proof that we own our house together.

For domicile - I'm not there yet but there is a good threat pinned on the Canada regional forum, eventhough its different embassy it gives you a good idea what to do if you do not plan to go back to the US before receiving the fiancee visa. Basically they want to see you have made arrangements to move back as soon as you receive the fiancee visa. But as said previously this is only at the last stage - the interview at the embassy. We own a house in the US, which is where we will live so we will use that + we are going to make sure my fiancee (US citizen) has a job offer by the interview time.

For affidavit - we are going to use our assets but are going to have a cosponsor as back up just in case they want to see more than just assets and a job offer - just to be prepared.

We're only on NOA1 stage so no real experience but this is what we are planning to do. hope it helps a bit.

Live in Turkey. If you both want to reside in the US, then this is the way. You can hire an expensive lawyer who will provide the same list of documents and take your money as they wait for you to compile all documents.

As I am currently in Nicaragua with my fiancee, we send all things to my mothers address and just give her mailing instructions. I, too, am from MN. I use my mothers place as my domicile and my fiancee's intended location upon entering the US. The only problem will be your assets later on for the affidavit of support. I'll be returning to the US for the last part of the visa and for the AoS.

I have a perminant adress in MN and I pay MN taxes so I am a resident. I put my parents place on the tax form so I am a resident according to that. So what do I do now, send and wait?

Can I get married while on a K-1 and then change it to a spousal visa? We want to marry but the engagement visa process takes a long time. Can we get married while we wait?

I did read the instructions but they were pretty unclear, which is why I am asking here.

OP Says they file US Taxes.. so that should cover the Affidavit of Support as long as the amounts are good...

If you marry while applying for the K-1 it will no longer be valid and you will need to pay for and file for a Spousal Visa...

And I agree with whoever suggested Marriage and Direct Consular Filing (DCF) but see which route works best for you.

~ Jan ??,2013 ~ Service Center ~ Vermont I-129F Packet sent

NOTE: Actual sent date unknown due to lawyer negligence - I delivered ALLForms and PAID Lawyer on Nov 7, 2012 - Lawyer kept saying he sent the packet and USCIS must have lost it. When in reality he failed to send the package and only a new copy to USCIS after I made a legal written demand giving him 10 days to perform or return ALL monies paid to him, due to "non-performance".

(IMO it's better to save your money for visits to or from your Fiancé and just fill it out yourself using the K-1 Guide on VJ and Senior Members... They Rock!!!)

One can use bank savings as assets rather than current income....if you have enough.

Also current income doesn't have to be domestic income....at least from what I know.
