hello all, im new here and want to introduce myself and ask questions. i am a 56 year old us citizen. i am disabled and my income is SSI monthly payments that puts me below to poverty level. i am also a student in college. i have a fiancee in the philippines and we have photos of us at king laupau laupau shrine where i formaly proposed to her. she has a batchlors degree in nursing, as her aunt and uncle loaned her the money to get her degree, as they are wealthy and were able to loan the money to her which is almost all paid back. she currently works processing the claims in a class action lawsuit for an american company. when gets work permission here, her income will be alot more than the 150% of poverty level. ive been disabled since june of 1998.

some of her courses might not transfer to allow her to take usa licenseing test so she can work as a nurse in usa, but there is a nursing college right here in my town. and former medical instructor at the college is a friend of mine, so he can toutor her if needed.i am wanting to know if it is possible that she come here on a student visa, take the courses if they are needed so she can get nursing license, go back home to get work visa, if we first get married in her country before applying for student visa. i was thinking that after being married for several years we could file for permenant resident instead of right away when we get married. just trying to keep the immigration officers from crying fraud and deneying her request for permenant resident status. i am currently liquidating all my belongings so i can move there if that is where we have to live, to be together. i heard something about posting a bond to insure she will not get on public assistance. is this true? can there be a bond put up to be for the income requirements? where do i need to go to find out how much would be required for such a bond?

my ancestors actualy arrived here on the mayflower and fought king george. it is crazy that i should have to leave my country, especialy when the government officals want to give amnesty to the illegals here and have done so in the past to get votes, these illegals recive public welfare, free schooling for their kids, etc...thank you!

Welcome to the forum! Because you're weighing visa paths, I'm moving your thread from "Introducing Our Members" to the "What Visa Do I Need" forum. You should get some good replies there. Let us know what you decide!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

There is no such thing as posting bond. If your income is not enough, you have three options:

1. Get a second job- probably not an option in your case

2. Sponsor on assets- you need three times the short fall. So for example if your income is $3000 short, you;d need $9000 in assets such as a second car, rental property, 401K etc.,

3. Get a co-sponsor; a US based US citizen or greencard holder who makes enough and will stand guarantoor for your wife.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

You can google Nursing Retrogression.

Otherwise look up CR1.
