Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking for resources to help with the visa application all over the place and looks like I’ve found another great forum, so I thought I’d join and introduce myself.

I currently live in Wales, where I’ve lived my whole life, but am now engaged to a girl in Arizona. We’ve sent off our petition and right now we’re waiting to hear back.

We’ve known each other since we were teenagers in 2003, chatting in a chatroom back in the days before Facebook and what have you. We talked solidly for about two years, daydreaming about what it would be like to meet, how if we weren’t married before we were thirty we’d find each other and tie the knot.

Last summer we met for the first time.

We got talking again on Facebook in August 2012 after years of life getting in the way, totally rediscovering each other. Since then barely a day has passed where we haven’t spent hours on Skype. She offered to pay for my plane ticket to visit her in time for the fourth of July 2013. Then she came out here for a week in October, before I went out there for Christmas and New Year - which is when I popped the question.

I turned 29 in March this year.

And now here we are, waiting for government approval. She sent her petition at the beginning of this month and she’ll be visiting me in Wales again at the end of it.

So be prepared for all kinds of stupid questions from me in the meantime.

Welcome. For one, never let anyone on here make you feel like you're asking a stupid question. However, do you best to research topics that have already been made asking the same question you need to ask. Sometimes you can get your answer without even asking it for yourself. For two, no questions are stupid, even if they've been asked before. Those who really care to help, will answer your question even if it's been the fifth time in their week that they have answered it. Those who don't care can find another topic.
