Hi,

Well, my interview was fairly good and it was brief, it probably went on for about 5 - 10 minutes (the questioning). The man gave me the AP form and just stamped it, didn't mention the need any sort missing documents or glitches. I asked him if he wanted the addiontional information for the AP and he replied that he didn't need it. The people at the front desk said that my visa was approved but I'm totally muddled now because they didn't keep my passport and I have that dreaded blue piece of paper.

Were they supposed to keep it?

Some countries are required to go through AP. They have to do extra checks. It sounds like it went well, so I would just sit tight and wait it out. They said approved pending AP, so that is a good sign. Good luck.

Some of US consulates/embassies do not keep passport of applicants when they put them on AP. After AP is ended and then they will ask applicants to drop their passports at US embassies/consulates.

John & Ivan,

People from certain countries (and few other combination) go through AP which is a standard process.

For most of the males in Bangladesh this is a norm and females are randomly selected. Sounds like your interview went well hence nothing more was asked. Sadly the AP can take a week to few months or even more depending on what kind of background check is being performed.

As suggested sit tight, keep your hopes high for quick turnaround. Unless there are genuine concerns the ap turns out negative and eventually you will get your approval. Bi believe one of the reason embassy don't keep passport is because of the uncertainty of the length for ap. They don't want to keep upor passport (applicant) for 6 months.

And don't forget to call the embassy every once in a while to get some update and that's all you can do at this point.

Good luck and hope both of you get a speedy approval.

Best wishes :-)

Thank you for the assurance. Dont know what else they would have to check in my case there is nothing else that i can provide i sent more than enough evidence and i would think that a phone record of over $3000 would be enough to grant us the visa
