I understand all people who wait so much :( it's been only 2 months for me though, but it's just my character that I am being too emotional, and people around me are so annoying which makes my daily life more depressing that it should be... So getting away from here and being next to my fiance is everything I want... I guess all we could do is just wait, but I am so happy I found this forum where we can cheer up each other :) Let's turn on the song called "don't stop believing" by Journey, take a deep breath and continue waiting! May it not take long! :dancing:

I've been doing long distance romance for 5 and a half YEARS.

So another few months, (hard as it is, now we are finally married and are sick to death of Skype, etc LOL), is really not long at all. And I've SO much to do to get ready to move to another country. Even on the days where I get frustrated with the timeline being a moving target, I realize I can't control it, so no point in wasting energy stressing over it, and I try to channel my energy to getting ready for my move. Plus I work full time in a demanding job, and am helping my son through University. LOTS to occupy myself!

All this being said, it really does look like all the service centres are improving, so here's hoping!

Namaste.

:goofy:

Especially family members drive me crazy!!! Especially when they call me "poor girl" i wanna punch them. They ask me again and again and what's going on and why we are so far(and mostly they are village ppl that they dont know even to write their names and reeeeeally old).

I was thinking what would i do so long without my husband if i was pregnant(the immigration officer told us the whole process will take 5 months). It's being 7 months i have to see him and we have no money to spent right now for flight tickets. The visa process is expensive enough!!

But as soon as we are done with k1 and im with him I LL THROW AWAY MY PHONE AND MY IPAD.... im sooooo tired to use skype and viber and all those things aaaaalll day long! 24 hours non stop....

As much as I hate to say it....after you get the visa...the hard part begins. My wife now complains she can't work or drive. She can't contribute to the family. She can't buy her own things. She is 100% dependent on ME! We are doing our AOS...K1 took 6 months (we felt lucky compared to some) We waited 3 months just for an Employment Authorization and Advanced Parole. It took my wife months of getting used to American food. Her English is improving daily but she worries its not good enough to get a job. Trust me...be patient...you may have many more months left before the real fun begins. Its been rough! We will be happy with the green card so she can start getting her own car and driving. Don't get me started on the medical hell the last 6 months has been! Wait is all I can say.

Oh well thats true too. But at least she s with u!! :)

I have the same problem with her with american food especially the cow beef bliaaaaah... I dont like american food at all especially if u eat greek foods that use a lot of oil. Probably we have same foods with ur wife that she Ukrain!

And i worry about my english too ... I cant buy anything on the grocery without my fiance, i need him with me cause im getting confused with dollar coins and when they talk to me. I must get over myself (and ur fiance) and realize that are ppl in the states that they live there for yeaaaaars and they dont speak english at all.

We live with a Chinese family and they work and live in the states almost 20 years and the parents still dont speak english. They speak Chinese to us.

Try to help her as much as u can. :)

Listen "smart".

When I and my fiance asked the immigration officer how long this process will take he told us 3 months to get the noa2 and 5 in total! When uplan ur life and ur next steps for the next 5 months and then u find out that u must wait 12 in a total then YES U GET STRESS!!! If u dont like this threat u can just not read it and even comment cause are super annoying!

The purpose of this forum is to get info and encouragement from each other!! And me personally i found amazing persons here that are my new friends!!

If u dont like it u can deactive ur account!!!!

Those are harsh words for someone who is just wanting to bring you back to reality. By now, given all the cases you've seen on here, you should be able to understand that what the immigration officer told you was wrong. Does it happen to some people? Yes. Is it the vast majority of cases? No. And if there is one thing every member on here will tell you is that it is not wise to make any plans without the visa in hand. There are simply too many variables in the process.

Besides, it seems like every week there is a thread from someone who is sooooo upset at TSC taking foreeeeeeever and they are soooooo in looooove and can't beeeeeear to be apart. Newsflash - we're all in love and hurting because we're apart. Some of us have been doing the LDR thing much longer than you. As Avery Cates said, people set unrealistic expectations and then take it personally when those expectations don't come true.

So, chill. Really. You can get approved next week, or you can receive and RFE at the 5 months period, which will keep you waiting a few more weeks for the NOA2. Anything can happen. Use the waiting time to deepen your relationship with your fiance, to get acquainted with the process post-NOA2, to start researching AOS. It's why we call it the Visa Journey, remember? Don't just focus on the destination, but enjoy the journey to get there.

Good luck!

The K1 journey:                                                                                                                             The AOS journey:

11/09/2013 - I-129F Packet mailed to Dallas Lockbox                                                                                         06/22/2015 - AOS packet mailed to Chicago Lockbox

02/14/2014 - Case shipped to Embassy, where it waited for over a year at my request                                 11/07/2015 - AOS approved (EAD and AP had already been approved) - there was no interview

05/21/2015 - Interview - Approved

06/19/2015 - Wedding (L)

The ROC journey:

10/12/2017 - ROC packet mailed to VSC

01/21/2019 - ROC Approved - there was no interview

The N-400 journey:

02/16/2020 - N-400 application filed online

02/21/2020 - Paper NOA received in the mail

03/13/2020 - Biometrics

02/02/2021 - Interview & test - Approved

02/05/2021 - Oath Ceremony

Totally agree with you. It may sad to know it, but that's a fact. Not getting what we expected for, will only make us more stress. Make your relationship work, approval will come any sooner.

Whoa there, slow your roll with the shots fired.

I don't know what immigration officer you asked, but he was wrong. That's all there is to it. We see some people get approved quicker here but that's a few out of hundreds of thousands. It's not the norm.

To get the NOA 2 it can take 6 months. After that it can be 3 more months until everything at the embassy is done, sometimes more if there's RFEs or long APs.

Sorry you don't like it. Doesn't make it any less the realistic expectation though.

I filed in July 2013 and still no noa2 for my k1. It was transferred from Vermont to Texas and then to a local Uscis office near my home to verify my us citizenship as the petitioner. Even though they had copy of my pAssport I guess it was not sufficient. It was at local office for 6 months before it was even picked up and then I was called in to submit my proof. Now it was sent back to Texas to hopefully get approved. Do you believe this. I wonder how long it's going to take them now to look at my proof And finally approve me. This is surely not for the faint of heart.

I'm an IR filer, and waited 9 1/2 months for my NOA2. We still don't have a case complete at the NVC. Total process for us is probably going to be about 15 months. No RFE's. No Checklists either.

I'm sorry that it's taking so long. I know how much it sucks.

I had the same thing when I moved over to the Netherlands. It took me more than 2 years to get my residency permit, and during that time I wasn't able to work, go to school, drive, etc. I didn't know the language, so was working on learning it. But going shopping was... interesting. Eating Dutch food was also something I had to get used to. I got sick quite a lot during that time too, because all of the sudden I was surrounded by people spreading germs around that I hadn't had contact with previously. Going from being independent to entirely dependent was very difficult, and as soon as I could, I went out an got a job. The only plus side of that was that I was with my husband while I was going through it. You really won't know how culture shock is going to effect you either, or how severe/how long it will last. Hang in there! I hope things get better for you!
