Can someone please help us.

I am the beneficiary living abroad. Its been since January 27, 2014 the USCIS approved my I-130 petition, they shipped it to the NVC on the 18 of february and on the 27 of february NVC received the approved petition.

up to now we are still waiting for NVC to send us something or even the letter. My husband the petitioner has been calling the NVC almost every week and the last time he called they told him they received it but it is not in system as yet. Why these people work so slow? this situation is very frustrating. Its been almost a year now since we filed. on may 20, 2013 we filed and its very frustrating, after the USCIS took so long to approve it.and now the NVC has to take another long process to get started.

Hmmm... it's very odd that the NVC hasn't even assigned you with a case #. Have you searched in other threads and forums here in VisaJourney to find out how long it's taking others to receive the case #?

In the meantime, I highly suggest you read the EZGuideSpouse so you can familiarize yourself with the process and stay one step ahead of the NVC to move things along quickly.

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi, I feel your pain! Basically, you know how there was the big hold-up at USCIS and then they forwarded some petitions to other places to get them moving a bit quicker? The flurry of approved petitions have been forwarded on to the NVC, so the back log has just been shifted from USCIS to NVC...incredibly frustrating. Add a couple of NVC closures due to bad weather and it has all meant that things are taking so much longer than it would normally.

If they received it on the 27th Feb and they're still using the 20-30 business days time frame - you're entering that now. If possible call every day or every other day from this point. Once they say you have the case #, ask for the invoice identification # straight away and also give them your email addresses for email correspondence - if you wait for letters, you will be waiting forever!

Once you have the case# and Invoice ID# - follow the guide and go to CEAC site and continue there. Just be aware that it is taking longer than usual for them to invoice, receive payment and allow access to forms. However, if you follow the steps and use Visa Journey help you should save some time by having all the documents ready in advance. If you haven't done this already - use the time now to gather all the stuff you and your husband need to complete the process without having to wait additionally for documents. It also helps with the waiting if you feel you are doing something constructive.

I have a friend who also had her petition received at the NVC around the same time as you and she hasn't had her case# yet either, you're certainly not alone. Which doesn't help, but may be of some comfort!!!

Best of luck to you, I will keep my fingers crossed :-)

Mine was approved on january 15th. Nvc has not received my case. Bc Uscis didnt send it to them. They are not doing things right. I talked to tier 2 and he told me that the approval letter is a template. Then just send the template and don't send that letter until u are ready to ship it. They are using freaking excuses. It is very frustrated .

thanks friends for your response and help.

Can someone list the documents that will be requiere at NVC when letter is recieved?

It's somewhere on VJ ...BUT in a nutshell, after the DS-261 (choice of agent) and AOS fee, your husband (he's the petitioner right?) needs to submit the AOS form, he'll need a tax transcript for last year (but he can order the last three years to prove financial stability if he likes) and evidence of income, such as a letter from employer/pay slips.

After the IV fee bill has been paid, you need to fill-in DS-260 and send supporting docs which include; original/certified copy of birth certificate, marriage certificate, police record, photocopy of biographic data page in passport, 2 US standard photos and it is recommended that you send a photocopy of original documents that you will want back such as birth and marriage cert....You might need to check if the Managua embassy/consulate have any additional instructions as well which you can do here; http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/submit.html

Make sure you sign-up for email notifications (do this by phone it's quicker), then the NVC will email you instructions rather than post which will be much quicker, however, it is useful to read the guides and shortcuts at the top of the forums here, as sometimes you can do things without necessarily waiting for notifications from them.

It's definitely worth assembling these things now if you haven't already, otherwise you might still be waiting for them when you're able to submit them which then holds things up...

I am very frustrated with the NVC as well. Just like cooliopippen, my case was not sent by USCIS when they sent me the NOA2. I had to contact multiple supervisors at both NVC and USCIS before one of them finally got in touch with the Immigration officer that approved the case, and got him to actually send the case. The NVC received the case on February 26th, and I still have not received a case number or any other information. My case was prepared by an immigration attorney in the US, and I have contacted a US Congressman and a US Senator about my case, and neither of them has been any help.

I found out that the NVC is staffed 100% by low-wage contract employees that work for a company called Serco, Inc., based in Reston, VA. These are not government employees, and they don't care about you or your case at all. They read information from the website and from scripts, and they are extremely rude, pushy, and overall, quite worthless.

I have used the NVCRresearch@state.gov email address to try to get answers, and got no response whatsoever. I have also requested expedited NVC processing, using the NVCExpedite@state.gov email address, and also have received no response. The people at the NVC are slow, careless, and incompetent, and there is apparently little, if any quality control in that facility, meaning those people can do whatever they want without any real oversight, and we are powerless to do anything about it.

This is the system that our elected representatives have set up for us, and it is disgusting. I hope everyone else has better luck than me with their cases. My wife and I got married on June 25, 2013. I came back to the US for work on July 27, 2013, and submitted my I-130 in September. We have now been on opposite sides of the world for 8 and a half of the 9 and a half months we have been married, and it is taking a major toll on our marriage.

NVC is just a typical governmental bureaucracy. They have no minimums on the amount of work that they do, so they take their sweet time. Imagine if you could go to work and not do much work during your 8 hours and go home. And just do that daily. That's what most of these people do. I have known people who work in government jobs. Unless it's something that requires an education, technical knowledge, or a lot of experience (such as IRS, FAA, etc), they don't really have any incentive to work hard. They get paid the same whether they process 5 cases per day or 25 cases per day.

These are usually people with no drive, motivation, aspirations, etc. They are basically society's slackers and rejects who couldn't cut it in a more demanding job. They go work at the SSA, DMV, and places like that where the pay is good (much better than fast food industry--where they should be working really), the work is easy, and there's no oversight and no accountability.

Our petition was approved Dec 19th (if I remember) and we didn't get a case number until around February 9th, almost 2 months. And now they are requesting documents (police certificate) to complete the case that a minor (applicant is my wife's 17 y/o son) cannot get in their country. I would think they would know things like that. But it doesn't surprise me once I think about who we are dealing with.
