I called my congressman after 4 months and within 2 weeks my file was sent to NVC. It had been sent to California instead of NVC....

Not imagining things. Communication is both about intention and perception. When multiple people are perceiving something differently than the communicator's intention, it's best for the communicator to adjust what they're saying.

I'm glad you had good intentions, obviously the way it was communicated affected how multiple people from various backgrounds perceived the information.

You do understand that this is an immigration site. Meaning there are people from different countries here. Not all countries are exactly like the US. Some have much more restrictive governments others are less restrictive. In some countries, government officials can be very vindictive; in other countries they are not.

A person not from this country could, of course, not be aware of how things are here. If you would look at it from another point of view, then you would see that this might be a very good question to ask.

Nothing wrong with asking questions. We all make decisions and the decision is yours whether to just wait months for approval or be proactive and try to get thins moving and that's what the OP doing and that's what we ALL need to do. Otherwise the process will continue to be slow because no one is taking action.

If your intentions were to engage her spouse's local government officials, then great. Most Americans have no idea how to go about doing this and believe that their vote doesn't really matter much. It's a sad state of affairs, but a state of affairs, no doubt.

To the OP, there was a thread somewhere where a former USCIS employee who was then going through the K process himself, was "interviewed." (Although, it really just was him responding to some threads and people kept asking more questions once they found out he had worked for USCIS). It's actually enlightening for those who have never worked in the government about how the process works.

I recommend everyone read it, it really puts things into perspective, it certainly was a good reminder for me, and I've worked in local government.
