Today my fiance got a message from the embassy that said she can pick up her passport at 2go or whatever it is. Now she has the passport and a packet that says do not open and neither one of us knows what we are suppose to do now. I read something about a mandatory CFO guidance and counseling session. The only place I read that is on visajourney but I haven't read it anywhere else. By the way, my fiance is telling me that her visa has an expiration date of 17 April 2014. This doesn't make sense to me because I read somewhere that we have like 6 months after the visa is issued for her to get here.

did she have her medical October last year? If so, the visa expiry that your fiancee told you does make sense

Do not open the envelope!!!! If you open the document envelope you will have to return to USEM to have it resealed. You can use a razor blade and slice in front of the passport to remove the passport as you will need it for travels through customs and immigration. Removing the passport does not jeopardize the integrity of the main envelope.

Next is you need to attend the CFO. See here for instructions: http://www.cfo.gov.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1348&Itemid=918 Once you are finished with CFO and she has her sticker on her passport, she can leave the country. dancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gif She will be denied at immigration if she does not have the CFO sicker attached to the passport.

The expiration date of the Visa is tied to the medical exam date not the interview date. Don't know why but, hey it's the government and they can make the rules. Go figure.

Yup CFO is mandatory, follow the flashing arrow below then click on the CFO tab for more info.

K-1 visa is valid for 6 months, but that date is tied to the date of the Medical not the date it was issued.
