Hi everyone! This is my first post here. I have been on visajourney a lot but just decided now to sign up. Our fiance visa was approved last Dec. 6,2013. His scheduled interview is on March 31, 2014 at the Consulate in Abu Dhabi. My biggest concern is, my fiance was working in Dubai with a resident visa. Last November he quit his job. He exit the country and came back on a visit visa for 3 months. His visit visa in Dubai will expire on March 15, just days before his k-1 interview. The penalty for overstaying is a fee that you pay at the airport before leaving the country which we are willing to pay. Will this affect his interview? Is there a possibility of denial? Thank you very much.

I think you mean his petition was approved in December, not the visa. Visa approval or denial doesn't happen until the date of the interview at the consulate. His status in UAE shouldn't affect his interview. Good luck!

Yes the petition was approved last December not the visa. Lol! Thank you! I was just worried that it might have an affect on the visa decision.

i guess as per UAE law he can extend his visit visa!!

He already had a 1 month extension before that and this visit visa that he's on is valid for 3 months. Unfortunately, getting an interview from abu dhabi takes almost 3 months so we were not allowed to get another extension for his visit visa in dubai.

@ KristinaLou,

i have heard about paying penalty for overstaying at the time of departure in the airport. However, i am not pretty much sure about this issue but he can definitely check with Dubai Immigration http://dnrd.ae/en/Pages/Home.aspx
