We met through a free dating website. I don't consider it a "marriage broker" as we didn't pay money. But the I-129f next asks for their internet address. Should I mention it here, or in the description of "the circumstances under which we met"?

No it is not. A marriage broker is for US Citizens using marriage brokerage services focused primarily on providing dating services between US Citizens/Residents and foreign nationals for a fee.

Unless you paid a third party money to find an international spouse to bring to USA then you would not check that box.

Not a MB but yes mention it in how you first met, which is needed for the proof of relationship needed at the interview.

For the 129f petition, you only need to mention and document your meeting in person within the last two years.....not how your relationship began.

I met my fiance via asiandating.com. It is a dating site that is for finding partners both in the USA and International. My lawyer selected YES on the form for the site being a "marriage broker."

FYI: We did not pay money either, just used the free services and eventually just used Yahoo/Skype to contact each other.

If its a free dating site with equal service and fee for both sex, it is definitely not IMB.

Thank you all for your advice! I found the USCIS definition on their website at http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf, and I quote:

The term “international marriage broker” means a corporation, partnership, business, individual, or other legal entity,
whether or not organized under any law of the United States, that charges fees for providing dating, matrimonial,
matchmaking services, or social referrals between United States citizens or nationals or aliens lawfully admitted to the
United States as lawful permanent residents and foreign national clients.
I now feel confident that the website is not an IMB. dancin5hr.gif
And thank you Baron555! I realize now that the i-129F 'How we met' only wants to know about our first physical, face-to-face meeting.

No it's not, I met my husband on match.com - which you pay for, and I was approved and now live in the USA.

needing help please

we received RFE prior to our I-129F K1 visa, it says there that he met me on a marriage broker site, yes we met online thru a dating site which men are required to pay $10 a month.

Does that mean the website is considered as a marriage broker site since he payed for the subscription and ended it after we met?

any help is appreciated.

btw we are same sex couple
