My fiance is an Irish citizen and I initially worried about him having an SSN, employment history and a bank account over here, as he was just here on a J-1 and I thought that would stall background checks. We are the same: no marriages, no children, no criminal history and he visited the U.S. 3 times in the last 2 years. Also, he was even still here in the U.S. when I submitted the petition, so that also worried me as well, but we were still approved fairly quickly comparatively. I know U.K. and Ireland are separate entities, but they are similar in many respects. Doesn't sound like anything should be holding you up. I've heard that if either of you have similar names to known criminials, it could cause a hit or red flag on your background check, which is what could spawn these "pending background check" case statuses that take longer to clear and is totally out of your control. :(

I also know that many people from automatic red flag countries like Pakistan and Russia have issues with this, but that obviously shouldn't be the case with you guys from UK. Just seems so random. I hope you guys hear something very soon!!

I understand Pakistan but why do you feel Russia is an "automatic" red flag country? Where have you heard this?

I understand Pakistan but why do you feel Russia is an "automatic" red flag country? Where have you heard this?

I would venture to guess the traditionally higher incidences of fruadulent marriages or maybe even existing political tensions between the two countries. Unfortunately and unbelievably, there's this whole old-school communist association with Russia, especially where I'm from in the South. I could see the potential for people holding these very outdated views to influence the visa process. Also, I've read stories of many others from around this forum and other websites who have been forced to undergo more extensive security checks and wait longer for approval who were also from Russia. Pretty shitty if you ask me.

I am the petitioner.

Yeah, I can see the south (red neck) mentality regarding Russia as I live there too and hear quite a bit of the old "&$*@ Rooskies" comments from the ignorant masses regarding the country. Regarding the fraudulent marriages though, that is virtually non-existent. It was pretty common back in the 90's when many folks were trying to leave the country and do whatever it took to do so but not so much today. Their way of life has become very much like ours and you would be hard pressed to find many that really "want" to leave. I cannot say that about a few other countries that we see represented here but many receive normal/fast approvals which makes me scratch my head at times. I am guessing you may be correct about the extra security checks though and hopefully it won't be much of an issue. Thanks for the comments :)

I know exactly what you mean about most people not wanting to leave Russia. I've mentioned it before on here that it really bothers me when people assume America is automatically the best place in the world to live and that everybody else in the entire world is scrammbling to live here and pursue the elusive "American Dream." This may have been true in the past and may still be true in some instances, but I increasingly that find many people immigrating to the U.S. (especially from European and other 1st world countries) don't necessarily enjoy the American lifestyle as much as the lifestyle in their original country. My fiance would never move or live here if it wasn't for wanting to be with me and we're strongly considering moving to Ireland at some point in the future because we feel we would be better suited to the quality of life and benefits available to us there.

I know a lot of the people immigrating to America would never even consider it if it wasn't fo their husbands/wives/fiance(e)s and its a shame that so many genuine couples are forced to endure these extra measures just because of a few outliers. I hope this isn't the case for you guys, anyway! :)

I appreciate the kind words, thank you :). I agree with everything you said. Tanya is the same way as she would never consider leaving Russia if it weren't for me. She is following her heart. Her family was asking if I would consider moving there so she could stay but they understand we will visit often (we hope). It is not completely out of the question, as well as a potential move to Europe some day, so we will see.

Hopefully, the American dream can come alive again some day and we can all see some level of improvement in our lives.

You keep using words and languages on the site that don't exist, people read these forums for help and writing NOA3 indicates that USCIS sends applicants a 3rd notice of assessment. The reason why it's packet 3 & 4 is because it's not with USCIS anymore. I wasn't trying to give you a hard time, I was politely correcting you so that other users don't get confused.

I think maybe there are different process in different country. I just type something that I know it in China.

So for anyone trying to email NVC...I sent two emails, one on July 3 and one on July 10. I just got an answer back from the email I sent July 10 last night, so it looks like they're taking 5 weeks or so to respond to emails.

I got a case update last night that my case has been shipped to the DOS for processing. No notifications in over 6 months, then 3 in a week! I can get used to this.

So, question, when should I call NVC?

Thanks for the sending positive vibes. Honestly if you meet me, I am usually the most positive person to be around (I am not saying it in a bragging way, its just my happy self and what others say about me). I was good till last month and I kept supporting her on a everyday basis, but honestly I am so phased out these days. Last night I broke out crying alone in bed. I have lost the will to exercise, to eat healthy food. I used to be a personnel and yoga trainer till a few years ago. I played racquetball, swam etc. Quite active and did it as it bought me happiness. Now I try and I am just not happy doing anything. I try to kill time watching TV as its the only time I can actually space out.

Also my parents have kinda disowned me as I am choosing to marry her. We are apparently of not the same caste's and that was a big no - no. I got engaged against their will and have tried to re-coup with them since, but I just keep getting pushed back. I send my brother a Bday card and he basically said to get lost and he hates me and not to contact him as I wrote from "her name" and "my name". I guess all the negative energy has finally broken my spirit and I am done hanging in there. Now I just stay numb....
