To be honest, I'm not really worried. The Miami Office is very accessible and my interviewer who has so far been quite forthcoming has assured me he'll follow up with me directly. I definitely will keep you posted. My primary purpose of posting my interview experience was to educate about the physical presence requirement (around which there seems a fair bit of confusion) and certainly not to alarm.

Thanks! I don't see a real need to freak out yet since all follow-up activity has resulted in the promise of a definitive response within a definitive time-frame.

I also look at the broader picture: the immigration officer had initially wanted me to return "within this month" after sending in my additional documentation via mail which would have added substantially more time than what is taking place under the present scenario.

My parents have been out of the US for about 850 days in the last 5 years, not quite close to 900 but still it's substantial and am hoping that IO will give them some level of difficulty but we have provided all the documents we have upfront so hopefully it'll be smoother.

Yep. they have made about 5 trips, each close to 6 months but none above 6 months and the trips were in nature for health reasons(they are in their 60s - 70s) plus they have had aging parents that they needed to visit and look after.

I have provided all the documents along with the N-400 application that I can think off(bank statement, utility bills, a written explanation, auto insurance policy, etc) so we will see when they get interviewed.

I speak none of those languages - although I don't mind learning them just need to set-aside time for it.

Ah, got it, lol! I guess when you said you were "hoping that IO will give them some difficulty" it sounded like something a native french or spanish speaker would say, but it seems it was just a type error.

I should have said "expect that IO will give them a hard time" but I see your point and I usually post from my phone so it's hard to write a wordy sentence and go back and correct it.

  • On L-1B visa for about 1.5 years before getting my F1 visa.
  • F1 (2 years) to OPT (6 months) to H-1B (8 years; Had an approved I-140 and extended my H-1B beyond 6 years) to Conditional GC (3 years 3 months) to Permanent GC.

hi people this is my interview experience ...... i had my interview on july 15 at 10;15 the IO call my name at 10:24 she was a very nice lady , i have a domestic violence record 4 years ago (conviction) that was my main concern but she did not ask nothing about it . she ask like 2 or 3 cuestions from application and thats it . she told me read a sentence and i did and had me write 2 sentence one i dont remember and the other one was " we have fifty states" and i was so scared because Im dylexic plus my english is not good anyway and i wrote "we havi fifty state" so she told me my mistake and she went to speak with her boss and come back and told me she will give me another interview in about 2 months so i have to go back , Im in line for interview again ... Im not happy but thank god i had no problem with my criminal record ...GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.

1-what did decleration of indepence do ?

2-what did the emancipation proclamation do ?

3-why do some states have more repres than other stat ?

4-what does the judicial branch do ?

5-who makes federals laws ?

6-what did marther luther king jr do ?

Yyyy the reason I am.asking u guyes becouse those question have some points to answer so do I have to gave all points answers or any one point pls update me if any one have an exp for that.

For those questions, you can give any ONE of the answers in booklet. You don't have to give all the answers. The only time you have to give multiple answers is when you are asked to list more than one. For example, Name 3 of the original 13 colonies. Then you have to give 3 answers. Hopefully that answers your question.

I hope I'm not interfering, but I also advise you to go over your entire application with someone very fluent in English or a native speaker. This is because the interviewer will go over the N400 form with you and will judge your English speaking ability by your ability to answer all the questions. I'm sure that you understand all the questions, but sometimes it's harder to answer them when you can't see them in front of you. It might be a good idea to practice with someone so that you are confident that you'll be able to answer all the questions verbally. It might also be a good idea to practice the test questions verbally instead of only on paper.
