Why is my NOA2 taking so long

I was looking a Igors list regarding the Texas Service Center and i see a lot of people got their NOA2 super fast even though their applications are newer. I got my NOA1 on the November 27th and have yet to hear anything else. But my case should be a slam dunk i met my fiancee when she was on j1 visa in the US (two year rule doens't apply) and then i lived with my fiancee overseas for 6 months. I sent a ton of supporting evidence. So i don't understand why people who met online got approved faster when i actually met my fiancee in person? Also it told me the Alien # was changed but it doesn't give it to me!!! Thank you anyone helping in advance!

Unfortunately USCIS doesn't seem to process the applications in the order they are received. If you look at USCIS' website, they list the estimated processing time for I-129Fs at 5 months. Even if you call them now, they will tell you that you are still within the allowed timeframe.

You won't get the alien registration number until you get your NOA2 hardcopy in the mail. It will be printed there.

I know it sucks waiting but hang in there. It's early days yet.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

It happens. Don't let it get to you; maybe those were military expedites.

I got my NOA1 on the November 27th and have yet to hear anything else.

Because at least 5 months hasn't passed yet.

Have to wait to see.

How can you say that? We met online and it took my timeline to get ours.

Also it told me the Alien # was changed but it doesn't give it to me!!!

That's normal, means nothing.

Thank you anyone helping in advance!

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Good thing she's not a relative yet; you'd really wait.

You can get a complete stranger into the US that you met on the internet in 3-6 months but apparently the US can't let your wife in for over a year even though you've been living with her for two years. I don't get the process or the logic behind it.

Why do some applications sit for months while others get approved in half the time? OK you take DCF, Philippines and expedite cases out of the mix and they still don't make sense. Does filing too little or too much supporting evidence effect process times. Do countries matter? These are the factors I'd love to know.

Hi, I'm on the same boat. Our NOA1 is from October and we still haven't even gotten our Alien # changed. I've called USCIS and they say we are still in the 5 month current waiting period and we can't do anything until then. It's very, very frustrating and challenging and as someone said, your life and your relationship with the person you love and want to have close to you are in LIMBO and for all you know, something could be lost, your case could just be ignored, anything really!

Of course there will be cases that take longer than ours, of course things could be worse, yes, we are only at the begining, we understand this. But it doesn't give us any comfort or a better understanding of the process and why some that submitted their applications to the same location got their NOA2 in less than a month while we are still waiting. I wish we had better insight into the processes at USCIS so that it could be a bit more comforting. We really have no idea what goes on.

My advise is to convince yourself nothing will happen until your 5 months are up, that way you are going less crazy watching the days go by. You can't do anything anyway! :(
