I went for my interview with my expired passport and they looked at it for verification of legal entry and your identity. I dont think you are in a rush to get it before interview. But she will need to renew it if she decides to travel outside USA

Going to send this to the Philippines regional forum. I think you will get more answers there about how and where to renew a Philippines passport.

~ Moved from AOS from Family Based to Philippines regional - topic not about AOS process ~

Have to go to the Philippine consulate that serves NYC. Forms and info is on the consulate website.

I went to http://www.newyorkpc...rms/63-passport and the only ePassport Application Form there has a huge water mark across the form that says "New Passport Available In Six To Eight Weeks" ....that seems odd because it prevents someone from filing out the form...please advise..thank you..

Lucky you that there's a consulate general in NY. I live in Colorado and I have to make a personal appearance. I'm renewing my passport at the San Francisco Consulate General in Feb and they use different forms than the NY GC.

The Los Angeles Consulate General also uses the same form as San Francisco: http://www.philippineconsulatela.org/NewForms2010/passport%20July%202012.pdf and http://www.philippinessanfrancisco.org/uploads/pdfs/passport.pdf

I'm sure the NY consulate will provide you a copy of the form without the watermark. That form from the NY GC with the watermark was revised March 2012, and the form that SF and LA uses are revised July 2012, so I'm guessing that if you go to the SF or LA consulate, you fill out the July 2012 form to expedite the filing out of the March 2012 form that the consulate will provide when you appear for your passport renewal.

Or maybe someone from the consulate in NY will electronically enter the information on your behalf when you apply.

Make sure you either bring cash, money order or cashier's check.
