Hello People,

I have filled GC on family basis. So, i have submitted AOS package in Nov 1st , 2013. My case is moving slow but the good thing is i have finally received my biometrics appointment for next week on I-765

I called USCIS as i was also waiting on biometrics for I-485, they told me its the same appointment.

Also, the USCIS officer ( level 2) told me that they have approved my I-765 till dec 2014 and they will release my card after my biometrics is done.

so, is that same EAD for employment?

I am on H1 right now, so, once i receive EAD card can i change my status?

Please, advise!!

Thank you!

( i have posted this question ot other section as well)

Firstly please don't cross post, just the one post is sufficient.

Your EAD is literally Employment Authorization Document so yes that allows you to work for whomever you like, once you have that card in your hands then you no longer need to rely on your H1 so you can work for whoever you please. However unless you also filed for AP (Advanced Parole) then you will not be able to travel even if you have a current H1 visa in your passport because if you travel without AP then you have abandoned your AOS.

Thanks for reply!!

I have filled out i-131 ( AP) and that is approved. USCIS officer told me that EAD and AP is the same card with same validity , till dec 2014

is it true ( or did i understand it correctly)?

Also i am waiting on my i-485 and i-130 to show some movement.

Thanks!

Yes if you have indeed already been approved for the EAD & AP then you will receive a EAD/AP combo card, but it seems odd that they would tell you that over the phone before getting your biometrics as it was my understanding that they need the results of the background checks after the biometrics before making a decision. However maybe that is just for the I-485 or they actually have systems that talk to each other so they can use your biometrics from your H1 and just make it a formality for the I-485/I-765, who knows.

Hello All,

I have filed family based AOS package on Nov 1st 2013 and I didnt receive my fingure prints for next two months eventhough i called USCIS 2 times and have them submitted service requests for my Biometrics.

I got biometrics appointment letter for i-765 . So, i called USCIS again and asked if i can gove biometrics for i - 485 on the same day. then, I received an email today saying consider same appointment for i-485 as well but when i checked Case status on USCIS it shows:

On January 16, 2014, your address was changed relating to the I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS that you filed. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

I have not changed my address. I dont know what is about. Please help people so i can understand what exactly it is about.

Thanks!

Your calling probably triggered them to update something, it could be your address wasn't quite right or something. I wouldn't worry that much especially if you have your biometrics appointment letter, just check online - https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do to see if anything looks out of place.

Thanks for Reply Aussie_Jason!

I see that message on USCIS website only. I googled on that "your address was changed relating to the I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS that you filed" and from those old posts I found out that it means now they are looking at my case and in a day or two i should get CPO . ( I dont know what CPO means) but sounds positive :)

Let me know if you know the full form.

Thanks!

CPO is Card Production Ordered, is that showing on your I485 or I765?

No, It is not showing that for I-765 or I-485

I see " Initial review" for i-485 and I-765 but i see Post Decision Activity for i-131

As per those posts the status should go to CPO that whats they were suggesting...

Not sure though!

I-485 approval depends on your local office and their nearest availability for an interview. You can look on uscis processing times under your local office to get an idea. If you pass the interview right away, then you can approved on the spot. If not, then there will be indeterminate waiting after the interview.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
