Hi all,

- Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR vaccine) for persons born after 1956 only => vaccin ROR
- VARICELLA (Chicken Pox) for all applicants from 11 months old, unless you have actually had the illness
- INFLUENZA Vaccination is required during Flu season for all applicants after the age of 6 months old. => vaccin contre la grippe

Bon courage à tous !!

Hi all,

We received yesterday through my fiancé email (the petitioner) Packet 3 from Paris Embassy. Turns out that they are requesting, when all documents required are ready, to send the DS-2001 form directly to the Embassy (without any other documents). Then, we have to wait for them to contact us to pay the visa fee, take the medical exam and set an appointment date (not possible to chose the date for the interview).

We are going to follow these instructions. We hope that the embassy will contact us fast to set an interview date.

Is anyone of you guys already set their medical appointment and can give us more info about the required vaccines? WC_AD said it, there are SO many different information that we are lost..

From what I read, I think you need to do those vaccins (from 18 years-old to under 65) :

- Tdap : Diphteria, tetanus, Pertussis (whooping cough)
- Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR vaccine) for persons born after 1956 only
- VARICELLA (Chicken Pox) for all applicants from 11 months old, unless you have actually had the illness
- INFLUENZA Vaccination is required during Flu season for all applicants after the age of 6 months old.

Thank you for you help, and good luck to all!!

Salut !

Question - there are a million different sites out there that give different information on what vaccinations one needs to immigrate.

For anyone that has gone through medical and interview recently ---- do you have a list of the vaccinations that you were expected to have?

Here are the websites we've already checked out (none of which completely agree with one another):

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=France&cty=Paris --- this is coherent with ---> http://www.uscis.gov/news/questions-and-answers/vaccination-requirements

but different that both of these: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/vaccinations.html & http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Medical/PRS%20-%20Paris.pdf

Any advice is very very welcome as my fiancé is supposed to have his interview within the next month or so and some of these shots he may or may not need have two rounds with 1 month in between (Hep B, etc.).

Thank you / Merci !

Hi everybody,
So, for those who have already filed their AOS already and so on, does it have to show our final name? Can my name change occur later in the process, will that screw everything up?

Btw I'm about to get married, I landed in the US, it's wonderful... But my fiancé is going to change their name (long story) but cannot do that until the spring. However, I'm afraid that if I file with my current name and then change my name when he changes his, the paperwork with the state will be screwed. Anyone can help?

Thank you!

Merci bien !

Bonjour a tous!

Hi everyone! What is the reason they' re asking the divorce certificate? Can I use my recent dated french birth certificate where it says that I was married on that day, i was divorced on that day with this person on in that place by this court? Or they want to see details, such as financial details?

French Citizenship question (admins, feel free to move this to a more appropriate thread if necessary):

I (the American citizen) have been married to my husband (the French citizen) since January 5, 2013. We have been living in Boston, MA the entire time. At first I thought I could apply for French citizenship after 5 years of marriage, but my husband was at the French consulate yesterday, and they told him 4 years of marriage.

Has anyone on this site gone through the process of French citizenship through marriage? The 'lovely' French bureaucratic system is confusing the heck out of me, and I would love to be able to find a site like this to help me through the process. Especially where I need to give proof of my level of French, which I currently have no written documents proving that level. I know I will need to take one of the exams, so I just want to make sure I am taking the right one, at the right time, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Kels and Sam!
I've done the whole process and the rules didn't changed since. I can tell you that in your case you have to wait until 5 years officially living together in States. I know it's confusing. Because 4 yrs rule applies only If you would've be able to prove that you lived in France with your husband at least 3 years. I had same situation, I lived overseas the entire time, and they told me this is clearly a "5 yrs rule".

Regarding French level. In my case I didn't provided anything that would justify my integrity with French culture (I wasn't enrolled in alliance francaise) Nor I had any document to justify my level of French. I guess I had one French visa in my passport, one trip to France and that's it. My interview was in French and I speak French better that majority of applicants (according to consul) so I don't remember, she somehow helped me because she said that would've be ridiculous for me to take an extra french exam. She said she saw many applicants barely speaking French and they still got citizenship, they attended French courses. I believe you can enrol in online courses or ask them what will be acceptable in your case. I'm telling you my story and what I have personally heard, yet talk to them before deciding what course to chose etc.

Thank you for your advice! My husband was at the French consulate in Boston on Monday, and they gave him this website: http://www.consulfrance-washington.org/spip.php?article258 to check out. That's where I got tripped up about needing to take an exam. I am fine to do an interview in French, but I would hate to fork out $200 to take an exam - when the results are only good for 1 or 2 years. French bureaucracy at its finest. Did you have to go to Washington DC for your interview? My husband was told that Boston used to do interviews, but now they are only done in DC.
