Hi all,

Received my wife's interview notice April 17 (printed Apr 14). Her interview is for May 20. Unfortunately, we're going to be out of the country attending a wedding. So I just called the USCIS number to reschedule. Hopefully it won't be an issue with NYC field office. Seems like a valid reason right as she is the matron of honor at her friend's wedding?

But as M+M said, it might take 3 months to reschedule.

Just received a new interview date for Jul 18. So the delay was only 2 months for rescheduling the interview.

Well instead of rescheduling my interview - I decided to just go ahead and travel back to Houston.

Houston Office was great - after recommendation for approval, I had to wait around for another hour and recieved the notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony (N-445).

Couldn't think of a better July 4th gift! Pretty excited.

I'm really glad that I didn't reschedule - so for those thinking about rescheduling their interviews, you really need to think hard about doing that....getting that notice of Oath Ceremony feels pretty good!

Update - Both my husband and I received our interview letters. Letter is dated June 2, received today, June 6. Interview is for July 8th.

Update - Interviews done at Civic Center, Santa Ana on 7/8/14. Husband and I got interviewed separately by different officers. Smooth and uneventful. Got letter saying we are approved at end of interview.

Mom was interviewed today (July 14) and she passed! She said it lasted about 5 minutes! The Houston office also scheduled her oath taking and she will be sworn in as an American citizen on July 23! I didn't realize Houston did it so fast! Glad this journey is nearly over. Thanks everyone for the help!

Hilarious news on how incompentent they are. We received my daughter's oath ceremony, but it was during a period when we were away on vacation. Promptly maile dit back to our local office with a note and reason.The day before her original ceremony was scheduled...they called to ask if she preferred to come in teh afternoon. She of course said no..I mailed back 3 weeks ago saying I couldn;t attend since my parents were not available and I had no ride.

There was a brief pause and then they made a note and promised her they'd send a new oath ceremony letter shortly. We received an NOA last week indicating they had cancelled her original oath and would be rescheduling...I'll post it shortly

Arrived for the oath at 8.40am; actually, the time on the letter was 7am. However, I already read on the forum that they do not start the oath till 10am. The oath started exactly around that time and lasted for about 30mins. It was boring and uneventful. After the oath, I went to the Houston passport agency, paid $195, submitted the proofof travel, and was told to come back in 24hrs for pickup.

If you do not want to pay the expedite fee, USPS on 401 Franklin street, Houston, TX do accept walk-in from 9am-1pm, Mon-Fri.

Hi Hypotallamus, I was wondering if you had any issues with arriving at 8:40 for your oath ceremony... any trouble getting in and did you have to wait long afterwards for your certificate? Any advice you can offer related to the Houston ceremony would be appreciated.

And one more question... from your timeline it looks like you got scheduled for an interview 3 months before your interview date... did they really send you a notice with a date 3 months later?
