Our RFE was a petty thing, very stupid one. We didn't see it coming at all! It turned out my Fiance forgot to check one box on the I-129F form. That's all they asked for -- to complete it and send back. So he did it on the same day it arrived. Do not think about getting RFE if you don't have solid grounds for it (like folks who realized they didn't attach letters of intent to marry for instance).

You probably should paste the actual wording of the RFE here, because perhaps there's some detail that would help.

Usually the birth certificate should be enough BUT ... did you copy both sides of the birth certificate, even if the back was blank? Was there a seal/imprint showing it to be official? Some states have "long form" and "short form" certificates and if they have both, USCIS usually wants the longer version. Finally if all else fails, you can send a copy of ALL pages of his passport to prove his citizenship.

But please quote the RFE directly before doing anything rash -- sometimes they are quite picky about what they want and it's easy to misinterpret.

You are right! they need the long form of his birth certificate. plus evidence of us meeting in person preceding the filing of the petition.

primary evidence airline ticket stub, and secondary evidence film-dated pictures.... why if we dont have the dated on the pictures.. will be ok write the information????

Thanks so much Laurka. Your right I shouldn't think about rfe since I pretty much put everything i am keeping fingers crossed that who ever picks up the file is not too picky about where I put none to where I left blank cos it didn't apply to me. I must say for all on the waiting game it must be pretty frustrating for those that have been waiting for months on end. Am at the beginning of this journey so trying to stay positive. Fingers crossed for everyone.

Our RFE was weird. When we sent the original petition (before finding this website) we sent pictures of us together that we had on a flashdisk. They immediately sent them back, saying that wasn't a format they could get behind, and they also sent back our passport photos (hard copy). They didn't mention anything about the passport photos, and we assumed that maybe we'd sent them an extra set by accident, and they were just returning the extras they didn't need. Now, 8 months later, we get the RFE asking for our passport photos! So we're not sure if they sent back the only set we sent, lost the other set, or there was something wrong with the ones we sent. Whatever! We went out and got new ones taken and have sent them along to them, and we'll see what happens.

Did you make sure to write your names on the back of the photos?

Yes, and on one of the ones they sent back, someone had written "I-129F". Just weird. Oh well. We'll probably never know.

They changed the status of our visa April 2 that they sent the RFE. By April 20 I still hadn't received anything so I called and they sent me out another one. They gave me a confirmation number. They usually get paperwork to me fast after the status is changed. I figured it would be here by now. I got an email May 2 telling me they just sent me the RFE I am so bummed. I can't help, but think if I had done all the paperwork correctly we would be approved by now. :(

After I send the papers they ask for in the RFE can anyone tell me about how long until my approval or denial?

Anything Will Help Thank You!

You don't have grounds to be nervous to the point of thinking about denial, do you? Take a deep breath, then another one :) You sent your reply 2 weeks ago; when did they receive it?

Thanks for your response!

They received my reply on 4/29.

No I dont think I do. I filed an i-129f in 2008 but the visa was never issued at the embassy. From what I heard you it's OK to do up to 1 previously.

The criminal record I had from 2007 was not a problem in the 2008 filing and I haven't had any other crimes committed since 2007.
