CONSTITUTIONALLY LIMITED GOVERNMENT means power resides with the people and not with the government. Governing should be done at the most local level possible where it can be held accountable. America’s founders believed that government power should be limited, enumerated, and constrained by our Constitution. Tea Party Patriots agree. CONSTITUTIONALLY LIMITED GOVERNMENT means power resides with the people and not with the government. Who knew? We all do. What this means is that the people we elect represent us at ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT and all levels of government can and should be held accountable by the people and when the people decide they do not like what the government is doing, in all levels of government, they are able to change the government by election. There is no separate entity called the government that has a life outside of this system so a statement that makes that separation is a nonsense as is the idea that black people should be separate from the rest of the people and should not fully participate in government no matter what ideology they hold or what party affiliation they choose and need some kind of 'black' version of same. How ridiculous.

Why do you need a separate movement for black people?

Because elements of the media have done their best to marginalise the Tea Party as a movement partly dedicated to racist policies, when it plays no part in their aspirations. The more the falsehood is propagated, the more traction it gets. At this point a Black Tea Party is the logical step, taking this media angle off the table.

I agree that we should not need separate black, or any other minority, movements dedicated political aims. It is an indictment of the American political system. But right now, for better or for worse, race, whether legitimately or otherwise, is often being used in the media to frame opposition to this Administration's policies. Pre-empting such accusations are virtually a requirement today. :(

I don't agree that's what elements of the media have been doing. I have not read many articles about the tea party, it's not that interesting to me, but none of the ones I have read have suggested that there is a racist agenda behind the policies. What has been suggested however, is that the tea party is a right wing fringe party and those who are attracted to this party tend to be drawn from sections of society that have a white racist demographic because of its ideology. If there are black people who are drawn to tea party ideology then they should be welcomed into the tea party, not have to create their own black version or the racist charge is accurate.

There is no racial agenda except one mfg by the democratic machine. It is their biggest threat. The tea party desires to have government decisions made at the level closest to the people ... Smaller government. The local black person living in your city knows more about problems they face than someone in Washington. The teaparty is made up of many groups all over the country. Why is it not logical that a black tea party be formed in the black community . They after all understand the local problems and the need to fix them. These people are TIRED of politics as usual when dealing with the people running that city . It is CLEARLY stated when you listen to the above clip. Big government and even big city government has failed their needs. People just trying to take their city back. Solve their most pressing issues. NAACP just looks to keep certain people in a lifestyle few of their supporters ever will see. “Don’t blame white people, blame the right people”…Well said How . many of these people will be visited by the BGI?The last 60 seconds said it all on this video. People waking up.

Contrary to your experience, the majority of commentary I have seen, heard, or read pairs any mention of The Tea Party with the epithet "racist" even when the main thrust of the piece has nothing to do with race. But that may be more to do with differences in sources than definable statistics.

To your point about people of colour being accepted into the Tea Party, it is my understanding that that are. That fact does not, however, weaken the specious accusations of a racist agenda. Which brings us to the Black Tea Party.

On a less serious note, do you believe there will ever be a Green Tea Party? ;)

Oh, the media is quick to pull the race card. If you don't see it, you are just looking in the wrong direction.

Now, I don't know whether I am a liberal or a conservative, whether I am a tea party-eligible constituent or not. And I don't even claim to be republican or democrat. I am just an American who thinks our current method of government is taking us down the drain. But if I call our current president a liar, I am labeled as a racist. Not by mainstream media, but by (some of) the good people of VJ. In spite of the fact that I respect each person for their own merits, not for their skin color. Even though I have had many black friends over the years.

No, I am racist because I speak out against Obama. The guy who promised to cut our debt in half by his first term in office, who said Bush was unpatriotic and irresponsible for allowing a debt of $438 Billion, yet the debt under him rose to $1.4 Trillion, or almost 3.2 times the deficit under Bush.

Or when I mention how he lied about keeping insurance. Or... well, whenever I say anything negative about Obama. I'm racist. The facts don't matter. And that's not the media, that's my fellow human beings here.

Did someone say you were a racist?

Pointless. If that's what you see when you read a newspaper or listen to a news report on the radio you need to change your media sources. Another fox news tribe talking point that is so indelibly printed onto the psyche not even facts can dislodge it. Go back to your fox holes, I'm not playing.

Just because you avoid a news source because you don't like what they are showing does not mean that what they are showing does not exist. Your ostrich-like POV doesn't change what is out there.

The media didn't make this up...

or this ...

or this ...

This is a country that has given rise to a large racist element, the KKK, on 3 separate occasions in the last 150 years. I don't know what the tea parties real aim was, but they have attracted this (racist) element like flies on shite.

All of which proves my point. Those images, which I took out of the quote as I believe them to be offensive, have been portrayed as the Tea Party having a racist agenda. I agree that there have been people with a racist bent attracted to the Tea Party, but that can be used to describe any and every political party in the USA.

The racists do not, however, define the political agenda of the Tea Party, which can be generally summarised as limiting the size and involvement of the Government. The attribution is done to obscure the core motivation of the movement, one of the few currently out there that began at a grass-roots level.

So, yes, a Black Tea Party makes sense, given the current political environment. And that's a real shame. :(

I didn't think k the tea party was a single movement, more of an umbrella thing. Who knows what it really stands for, but the people who speak for it don't do anyone any favours.
