Interesting that these groups did NOT think Martin Bashir's comment that a woman should be forced to eat sh*t was sexist. Neither did many of the women here.

Bashir's comment wasn't sexist even if it was offensive. Not every offensive thing said to a woman is sexist. For example:

"Hey Maven! You're an idiot!" = not sexist

"Hey Maven! You're a slutty idiot -- show us yer tits!" = probably sexist

However, I do not claim to speak for all women or all feminists.

As the people who listen to him have the same views, I doubt he's making things worse - but it's sad that they can look to anyone in the media to validate their misguided views, it's 2013 for god's sake. No one is saying that men shouldn't notice the world around them, but allowing yourself to use that as an excuse to act in a vulgar and sexist way toward women is ridiculous. Women are first and foremost people with the same rights as anyone else, that includes the right to walk around in public without being subjected to verbal abuse. The argument that a woman shouldn't walk about 'provoking' men's visual stimulus is the same as the argument that women should wear burkhas. Smoke on that Rush and your followers!

Oh, and any man who thinks that women universally enjoy being whistled or shouted at in the street based on their appearance are barking mad. It's not a validation of one's looks, it's verbal abuse, period.
