Thanks for all your advice. I'm just concerned that my mom gets sick or depressed because she loves her grandson very much. How long does it take to get a tourist visa for a 67 year old senior citizen in the Philippines

Just to throw this out there for the future. Let us suppose that your 67 YO Mother is denied a tourist visa--then what? What strong ties can she show to the PI? She will have a daughter and son in the US. It sounds likes all parties involved need to sit down and discuss the realities of the immigration process, the time lines, and the consequences involved with all options. Then make a decision. Just remember that your son is 12 YO now and can easily be brought to the US by you and your husband, but he will be 18 in 5-6 short years and that changes what he can do in regards to being able to come to the US even for a short visit. You can become a USC in 3 years and then petition for your Mother who will then be 70 YO (son will be 15 YO) and may decide that living with her daughter is a good idea or maybe not. The tourist visa would not be an issue if your home country was part of the EU or Canada, but your home country is the PI and unfortunately you must pay for the sins of previous tourists that used the tourist visa to remain in the US.

Have your Mother try for a tourist visa. If she is denied then you all need to get together to discuss plan "B". Just do not use YOUR GC to visit the US and risk loosing it because you decide to spend more time in the PI then in the US.

Good luck and I hope all things work out for you,

Dave

It's normal for your son to have separation anxiety towards grandma but once he's acclimated to the US (ex: started school), he'll get over it. idea9dv.gif

How long should i stay in the US before i go back to philippines for vacation?

as an IR-1/CR-1 visa holder,

4 hours is sufficient.

Yes, I'm serious.

My USC husband petitioned me and my son to live in the U.S but my 12 year old son doesn't want to leave without his grandma (my mom). We are almost done with the immigration process. I don't know what to do because my mom also wants her grandson to stay with her because she will feel very homesick. Can anyone give advice?

I say have the child come with you,

and live with grandma during the summer and winter breaks.

Later, 3 years after your first green card, chase after USCitizenship, and petition yer Mom to come in on IR-5 visa.

That's 3 to 4 to 5 years of having this seperation stuff going on.

I sense everyone 'in the picture' can handle the summer break/winter break stuff.

And - what's your USCitizen Spouse's position/opinion on any of this stuff ?
