Why White People Won't See "Black Movies"

This is how I feel, too. Example: The Death at a Funeral remake. I was actually excited to see that, since the original was really funny, but the marketing for that film was AWFUL. It didn't look funny at all, and gave away the entire plot (for those who hadn't seen the original).

Most of the other "majority black cast" movies I've seen ads for honestly make them look like made-for-TV movies or bad rom-coms.

I have no idea why they remade that movie. I think it's harder to get black films made that don't fit the stereotypes we are used to. It's almost like if you put Kerry Washington in Gravity or Morris Chesnut in Inception no one would see it. Only a few black actors can command box office revenue, Morgan Freeman, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, that's it. Anyone else, it's a gamble most producers wouldn't want to take.

I forgot, Sinbad is another great. No vulgarity, and he's funny.

That guy is not funny.

I bet when you started reading this thread you didn't think you were going to be removing posts due to nudity.

Oh go watch Madea goes to jail and get it over with.

Btw, I saw ol' Bill Cosby on the daily show the other night. He's going to die soon it appears.

The play is better than the movie IMO.

It appears that way. It's sad because he's a classic comedian.

There's a play?

It is sad. I won't miss white conservatives using him though

He's going to die soon?! WHAT.

Yeah, he's like a million.

I think his interview went a bit weird. I didn't see it, but I glanced over a link talking about it.

Here's the black lesson for today:

Before he made movies, Tyler Perry was all about plays. In fact, most of his Madea movies were plays first. That's how Madea came about. He used her to spread his message in a funny way since in most black families there was a Madea of some sort.
