I included 6, but I don't know if it was completely necessary or not. At the Embassy, they took everything I handed them in the way of paperwork. I assume they got what they needed, because we got our visa

I included 4 months of pay stubs, 2005 tax transcript and copy of W-2. I think as long as you have proof that you meet the Poverty guidelines, a letter from your employer and a way to prove that you earn said amount of money (paystubs, tax return, etc.) you should be just fine!

I included 2. The last from my previous employer and last from current employer and highlighted the year-to-date amounts on both.

I changed jobs in October. So this way they can add up my wages year-to-date.

But how often are you guys paid? So that we know how far back to go (I am still wondering about how many to submit). For instance, some are paid monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly. I'm paid monthly, but my co-sponsor is paid weekly, so there is definately a difference in our paystubs. If we submit for the past three months, I will only have 3 paystubs, but my co-sponsor will have around 12. So how far back in months did you guys go with the paystubs you are submitting?

I included 3, and they were all handed straight back to me without even being looked at. It's good to include them though. I'd say 3 is fine, for the AOS later they ask for 6.

Eric sent me the i-134, with two pay stubs and letters from the bank, but not the tax thingie...the woman who checked the documents at the embassy had a check list and we were missing only last year's tax return...it was no problem but i suggest you have all these things just in case.

I also had originals of the pay stubs and the letters and she kept the original letters but copied the pay stubs and gave them back to me.

I sent him around 2 months of payment stubs + copy of last year's W2 + the letter from the bank with amount of deposits for this year and daily balance. Maybe it's too much but thought I better send more than less...

Not sure it asks for pay stubs in writing, but it says to submitt proof of current employment and earnings, and a pay stub is one of the best ways to prove how much you're making, and that you're currently employed.

I plan on taking 2-3 paystubs (I get paid once a month ) along with a letter from the my bank, employer, last couple years of my taxes and last year's W2s with me.

Does this sound ok?

I've been earning enough since 9/2005 and got a raise in 8/2006 so I'm not going to use a co-sponsor.

As a teacher I get a bit of a raise every year and I think I can bring in that proof, is it worth it?

Where does it say to submit "proof of current emloyment and earnings" ?

What it does specifically ask for is:

"A statement of your employer on business stationary, showing

1. date and nature of employment

2. salary paid

3. whether the position is temporary or permanent"

As noted above, they probably won't even look at your check stubs because its not what they're asking for. I believe its more important to have the letter from your employer than to have the check stubs, as the stubs don't give them all the information they are requesting.

Personally, I would not offer up anything they don't request. (Although it's probably not a bad idea to have them just in case they ask.)

I was sure I had read that somewhere either in the form (which has been revised since I filed) or in the USCIS's instructions page in the old page. Oh well they kept my husband's pay stub copies.

EDIT: It's in the I-864 Affidavit of Support that states that you may submitt pay stubs for the past 6 months.
